    • I enjoy leveling more then one toon.
    • I burnt out doing this in about 6 weeks :P  Running four toons up to 35-40 is hellishly boring because despite the different starter areas which I did all of, the rest of the areas progress in a rather linear fashion.

As long as you are having fun I guess it isn't a problem, I just have the attention span of a gnat.

    • AoC vs LotRO
    • I played both games for about two months each and I find that pretty much all MMO's feel the same to me, the only one that breaks the mould is DDO which is why it is the only one I have resubbed again after the initital enjoyment wore off.

LOTR has more to do that is not killing things, it's deeper and has more content, deeds, crafting, lore.  It's all there in bucketloads more than AOC.  I found the crafting in LOTR superior to any other MMO I played because it didn't try to be anything more than it had to and it was fulfilling and easy and above all else, the things I could make were useful.

AOC has the benefit of a more interesting combat system in my opinion, it kept the game interesting for me despite the lackluster quests and content after the intital tortage quests.  The first twenty levels were a pure joy to me but after that it went downhill rather quickly.   I found the graphical style of AOC more to my liking than LOTR although I am not saying I found either ugly by any stretch of the imagination.

To sum up I think both have problems, I think they both suffer from replayability issues, where playing alts is tedious and a chore.  I enjoy making alts so this is a gamebreaker for me.  I got bored of both after about the same amount of time, mostly due to replaying content; although the quests were better written for LOTR the actual quest objectives were no more interesting in either game, standard deliver this, speak to this person, go kill this creature quests.

If you are looking for something to keep you interested, either will work in different ways although I think likely thanks to the state of the content for AOC, LOTR will be able to hold your interest for a longer period of time.  If you are looking for something a little out of the box, DDO is always worth a look too although it is not for everyone.

    • Free Final Fantasy XI trails (no CC required for these)
    • Fileplanet is apparently restricted to US subscribers only.  I don't particularly fancy setting up a new account so I guess I'll give it a miss.  Shame because I am looking to keep myself busy until fallout 3 drops into my lap.

Seems kind of stupid to offer free euro trial keys and nowhere for you to download the client except actually BUYING it from their website.  Because you know if I have to buy the game it's not reallt a FREE trial any more.

    • Beta sweepstakes... 100 or 500??
    • I have to wonder how so many people apply and win these things then don't confirm.  Surely if you took the time to log in and apply for the contest you can take the time to check if you won.  Just seems kind of stupid to me, if you aren't that bothered, give someone else who actually cares a chance.

I understand some of them might not be able to get to the internet for whatever reason, but the number pending is usually rather high.

    • Ranked 60th MMO on this site
    • I got about 6 weeks out of it before I got tired, which isn't so bad for me.  About the same as everquest 2, longer than vanguard and a just barely longer than DDO.  I say open it, the game has problems, it lacks content, has bugs and has some rather extensive balancing issues but I enjoyed it.  What I did play of it I really enjoyed and I could still be playing now if the content hadn't almost dissapeared by mid 60's.

Don't go into it expecting the best game you will ever play and just try to have some fun while it lasts.  It's not as bad as people say, yes it's not great and I was dissapointed.  But then again I expected a game to revolutionise MMO's and be everything I ever wanted and it wasn't, likely the same scenario that causes all of the bitter people to still be floating around now driving off new players.

Look at galaxies, noone has anything good to say about it at all yet there are still people playing it and enjoying it.  I suggest you find out for yourself if you are one of the people who can enjoy the game for what it is or someone like me who finds they can be dissapointed in the game for what it isn't.
