WAR is an excellent game that delivers on everything it said it would. Maybe it's not in the same market, sandboxes, but the PvP casual friendly market it is in the game is doing very well. I'll go as far to say the OP never played WAR or AoC because of his obvious generic post, filled with 0 knowledge of anything. If you expect DF to overcome the hype above what WAR has already done, you're very delusional. I will wait for DF to come, but I am not having expectations.
You just dont get it.
WAR and AoC isnt even in the same Universe as Darkfall for the real hardcore players, the ones bred up in felucca UO.
WAR and AoC isnt an option, never was. They is just another linear crapgame among others. Worthless PvP full with carebear features. WAR delivered on everything it said it would......ROFLMAO. Good for you, not for me.
Wouldnt play them even if i got payed doing it.
I don't get it? I probably played more UO than you you'll ever play MMO's altogether. I realize UO was fun in its day but look at it today. Even it now just tries to copy off casual games because that is what most people want. You never played WAR so please just stop. I already pointed out before that you are the biggest troll on these forums for DF. You just say "lol, its stupid, I know so. DF is great, I know so." Your ignorance is so thick is actually somehow makes me feel bad.
Play WAR and tell me its not fun. You keep saying "worthless" as if DF will be "meaningful" in some way. It's a video game that is used for entertainment. You're so far stuck up your own ass you don't have perspective about anything. I don't know why I even try to argue with you, you don't allow other viewpoints to enter your mind so its pointless to even talk to you.

How is EVE a sandbox or not as the OP put it ladder based? It is just cleverly hidden but EVE is a ladder as all MMOs are. Just because there is no character level does not make EVE special. In EVE the ladder is standing with Corporations, that is essentially a level. In EVE your level is also defined by the amount of time you trained which translates to experience. You can not train battlecruiser before you learned spaceship command IV and Cruiser III, it is a ladder as all other games are.
Just had to comment on this, EVE is a very good MMO, but it is the same as all the others in terms of ladder or linear progression.
Thats a really dumb statement. How is EVE a linear game when you can go ANYWHERE at any "level"? The game doesnt restrict you based on how skilled your pilot is so in fact it is nothing like the other mmos at all. There are indeed ladders of progression but the game does not restrict how you choose to play the game based on those ladders. In EVE you can fly and survive anywhere if you are a wise pilot and know what you are doing.
You fail.
It was pointed out already but you can do the same in WAR, you go to any Tier you want in any area. You will just die in a lot of them because you're not strong enough. Its the same in EvE, you can't waltz into 0.0 right off the bat in the game and waltz right back out. And you already admitted it IS a progression ladder system, just like every game is.
I used to listen to what you used to say neon, but right now you're making that pretty hard to respect even reading what you are trolling here.
Yeah except that in WAR each tier is designed for players of a specific level range and anyone lower than that range WILL die but in EVE it is a lot more open than that. You get players of varying degrees of skill flying in 0.0 space and you also cannot neccessarily tell how skillfull they are as they dont have a single number attached to them which denotes how pwerful they are (eg my level 20 spaceship beats your level 10 spaceship just because its got a bigger number). Your choice of ship, the focus of your skills and the selection of modules that you outfit your ship with can determine whether you win or lose a fight. Its possible to defeat a more experienced pilot in this way. The same however cannot be said for WAR. A level 20 player will always defeat a level 10 player no matter what you decide to do.
Yes EVE has a progression ladder system in terms of its skill points BUT the game does not have zones that are aimed at characters with a specific number of skillpoints. It doesnt funnel you like a rat in a maze like WAR does.
So no its NOT the same as EVE actually. Not even close. In fact its glaringly obvious that this is the case so how come you cant see it?
Now that I've just crushed your argument does that mean that I have earned your respect back (lol) or do you still think I'm just trolling by pointing out a fact?
Honestly, I am not sure you played WAR. You can go to Tier 2 or 3 at level 1 if you wanted I believe. And if you bring some higher level people with you, you’ll probably live. So to say you “will” die is wrong, it’s the same exact idea. If you have people with you, you’ll live. And stating you can’t see what level they are doesn’t mean anything, in the core coding of the game some people are still fundamentally more powerful than other players, it’s just EASIER to put it in level form.
In EvE a 70mil will always beat a 3mil, if you say otherwise I can make that same argument for WAR. If the guy just stands there in WAR, a 10 can beat a 20 easily, especially because they are boosted to 18 to make it easier. Once again, proving you probably never played WAR. In fact, I see Level 10 people fighting level 20 people in scenarios everyday. They don't normally win 1 on 1, but they can very much help the team and contribute to the fight.
And just because you fanatically post over and over and flood the topic with only your opinion doesn’t make you right all the time. And it definitely doesn’t make you right because you say so. EvE is a totally different game I agree, they are nothing alike, but under it all, it’s the same thing. You don’t get more and more money/skills in EvE because it serves no purpose; it makes you stronger and better. Like I said before, a level 1 doesn’t just go into 0.0 and live by himself. You can argue it’s possible, but I can do the same for WAR.
So if you think you “crushed” my argument ... that makes me lose even more respect for you. You’re just dead wrong and so “hyped up” with how right you think you are, aka arrogant, you can’t see that.

So after reading this wonderful thread about fangays....i mean fanboi's or fanboy's (however it's spelled) I've come to the conclusion that no one can have an opinion, no one can ignore a post even tho it pisses them off, and all the harsh critisizm the original poster has gotten has now turned him into a child-troll-scarecrow named Dorothy....lol.
To make fun and call them a "fangay" or "fanboi" because they like something you don't is just plain retarded.
And lets define what a fanboi is because its obvious you and alot of other people take offense to the term because you dont understand what it means.
A person liking WAR does not make them a WAR fanboi. Here is the definition.
Fanboy (sometimes spelled fanboi) is a term used to describe any individual who is devoted to a single subject in an emotional or fanatical manner, or to a single point of view within that subject, often to the point where it is considered an obsession.
The term is most commonly associated with adolescent and teenage males but can be applicable to any age or sex, and is mostly applied by others as a derogatory label.
You posted twice from one post I made? Psh... anyways.
That definition you have is on Wikipedia, its not in the dictionary. It's pretty sad you think something on Wikipedia means its a fact.
LOL, Since when is wikipedia totally unreliable? Do you have a more precise definition for the word "Fanboi" that you'd like to link?
And from the definition, you are a fanboy. You seem overly devoted to attacking people you call fanboys, and you only have ONE point of view on the subject at hand. So you're a fanboy and you are flaming fanboys. See how that doesn't make sense yet it fits into your definition?
I havent attacked anyone except Fanbois, but fanbois are just a bunch of fanatic-like freaks, so why would you care if i attack them or not? Unless of course you are one.
But I do agree with part of the Wikipedia, its used mostly by teenagers, which you obviously are a kid. You're not in your 30's like your profile suggests, that I can confidently be sure of.
You read my profile? Im so flattered.
and you only did it to provoke users emotions.
Not really, I didnt think quite so many people here would take offense to the term ... seeing as how a Fanboi is a fanatic, and I'd think that most of the WAR players ARENT fanatics. But the ones like you that get so upset about the subject, define which ones here are emotion-filled Fanbois.
I didn't say Wikipedia was "totally unreliable", you did. I said its sad you think everything on there is a fact. Fanboi is a word made up by teenagers like yourself to insult and demean other people. Like I said, its not in a real dictionary so its interpretation can vary.
"I haven't attacking anyone but Fanboi". This seems like an oxymoron comment. "I didn't attack anyone, I attacked an entire "group" of people". Yes, so that makes it okay? And I'll say it one last time, I don't like people that troll anything, as it misinforms the public most of the time, I'm not a fanboy of anything.
It takes 2 seconds to click your name to see where you claim you're from, your age, etc. I wouldn't be so flattered.
If you didn't think people would take offense, what was your point of making this topic? Someone else asked this, you didn't really give an answer. And apparently you cannot understand what I say. I said over and over that you HAVE NOT defined a subject. You made a general statement to entice flaming. What have I so "fanatically" defended other than you're your idiot? You keep making generic statements every time I make clear arguments.
But I've fed you plenty and I'm done here, you can only lead a horse to water. Been reported as a troll, hopefully mmorpg.com agrees a

And since you love Wikipedia so much...
An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.[2]
Hrm, let's see. Your topic is completely irrelevant and you only did it to provoke users emotions.

Wow, either this is the OP or a close friend. First post and this is what you have to say? The OP didn't have an opinion. He basically said "People evenutally get tired of things". That is just a general statement. And the title he put is clear notice he is a troll just trying to get attention. I'm not sure why I'm talking to you like you're someone other than the OP when you clearly are, but its pretty sad you needed to make a new account so you're the only one backing yourself up.
Opinions are fine. Obvious trolls are not. And let's be realistic here. If you have a restaurant you like and someone says it tastes like shit, do you tell them oh you're right I guess I didn't notice it tasted like shit. No, you tell them how you really feel, that you like the food and it taste good and you don't understand why they think it tastes so bad. To make fun and call them a "fangay" or "fanboi" because they like something you don't is just plain retarded. And what ever happened to having fans is a GOOD thing?
Sigh, I'm young, but these 14 year old kids make me sad for how the work world will look in 10 years.
What aspect of MMORPG's are you more into?
