      2.     I believe it's play forever up to level 10 (but will have some features disabled like regional chat or some such).

      3.     I thought I read it was subscribe from the trial, but this may not be your best option. For example:

Retail box = $20 (8 character slots). Free 30 days.

Trial = Free (not sure how many slots). Subscription starts instantly when you subscribe...  If you only have one or 2 trial character slots, subscribing right away means you will not see the free 30 days.

This is not 100% confirmed, because I can't get all my VG news from one sight so I mix and match

Nowhere in his post I come across the word WoW. Nowhere!!

Yet you pathetic fanbois come up with the same old same old WoW statements *disgust*

With your endless elitish attitudes against new players (like so many of you do in the game as well) Vanguard will never come around. Never!

I have tried Vanguard again this month as well and MY reason that I quit is that the world chat disgusted me! So much elitish attitude towards new players, I was just shocked by it.

If you want Vanguard to come around and get new players to join the game, then you surely need to continue with the elitish attitudes.

      Have a nice day.

What a troll statement this is... be proud of your trollish nature because I bit.

As I'm sure anyone who has ever played VG can verify:

Community in this game is the best hands-down community around.

Ask in shat for someone to make you a newbie set of armor, for example and you will probably get 3 sets mailed to you FOR FREE.

Ask for directions and you can usually get an escort.

Ask for advice/hints and you will get 5 responses in under a minute.

Get into regional chat and say the game sucks and you will be laughed out of the game.

I think this is what happened to Guillermo197...

Around Level 20 the game becomes boring, never mind what class you play. Why ? Mostly because the Xp curve is raising in crazy amounts. For solo players its a timekilling boring thing.

Wow, in 4 weeks of free time you managed to get all the classes (19 of them) to at least level 20? It must have been hard for you to decide which of your existing toons to delete because you can only have 8 characters (or 12 with a station pass).

The game is ok, the game has bugs like mobs attacking from inside walls and killing you. Theres a Global 2 sec timer which is totaly unnecessary and its just slowing down fun. 1 sec for this stupid Global timer would have been enough.

Sadly there arent many players left. in 4 weeks i didnt group just 1 time, i was looking for groups but the players online were mostly 30+.

It's too bad you didn't level one toon up to level 30 so you could have found a group... I have a few alts at the 20 range and never had a problem finding a group for them but I guess it depends on how you ask maybe.

I played on the emtpy European server Halgar, some germans are left there and some other europeans, maybe some US east coast players between thats it.

The most time i havent seen anyone while hunting, i seen some players in cities but while hunting almost never.

Reroll on Seradon and I bet you'll curse how many people you find trying to compete with you on quests.

The moving speed of the characters is to slow for the big landmasses and only a few classes have Run Buffs. Mounts at low levels are to slow too btw..

Level 10 mount = 30% increase to run speed and the level 20 mount is 40% - that's quite a bit faster than the character run.

The quests are boring and always the same just higher levels.

Just like every other MMO on the market.

In the 4 weeks there was never a Patch or any download from the patcher. I expected more motivation from the developers after all the hype in the last weeks, but nothing. No bug fixes nothing.

If you read this forum or the official Vanguard forum you would know there is a trial being put out and a big patch to correct hundreds of issues.

Today was my last day and i left the game after my Bloodmage got jumped by some MOBs suddenly appearing out of the walls in a cave. That sadly happens all time if indoors and it seems the developers arent able to fix this very dissapointing bug.

overall i had always fun with my new characters but i am not willing to play the same time from 20 to 21 than i needed from 1-15. i got my Shaman to Level 25 then the xp curve raised again, i killed 3 dot mobs that give alot of xp but the xp bar wasnt moving anymore.

Vanguard isn't WoW, thankfully. I levelled 8 toons in WoW in 3 months and that was before the xp increase. I like the slow pace in Vanguard. With the size of the world, moving slow seems to give you a lot more time to explore and enjoy. I think most of the Vanguard community is in no hurry to reach level 50.

Toooooo much time needed from 20 to 50, you could level two or tree Level 80 chars in that time in AoC just as comparison.

If you are only grinding mobs, levelling will take forever. Visit a quest hub, grab 20 quests and hammer them out in a night or two and see how fast levelling is.

so all the hype about the GU6 is nice but i dont expect much from it but many Nerfs to mellee classes.

i am honest, i had a blast with every class but when i came close to Level 20 with every single of my toons, i had the feeling that i have to quit my Job , leave my wife to achieve something in VG.

so for unemployeds or people that dont have a life or work i am sure this game is for you !

I own a business, am married and have 2 kids and I manage to play this game just fine. In fact, this game is perfect because you don't need to wait an hour to find a group or get into a raid or wonder what to do. I have 2-3 hours a night and I can manage to accomplish a lot in that time in-game. I play a different toon each night so I maximize the rest xp by the time I get to my first toon again. Levelling has never been an issue for me, but then again I grew up in EQ where there used to be hell levels. Vanguard is still in my opinion the best bang for the buck on the market today.

We are in 2008 and this crappy game engine still doesn't have object shadows. Houses, objects, etc... have no shadows... How could they release such an unfinished game?

And I'm not even talking about water reflections, etc... which are even basic game engine features in free 2 play games today. I'm only asking for the most basic thing : shadows. The game looks great at night, but when the sun is high or inside buildings with lights it's so bad...

I never really noticed the house shadows to be honest, but I do know that mountains and city walls cast shadow. The shadow may not be an obvious dark area on the ground with a darker outline drawn around it, but I have seen shadows. Rent a flying mount on Kojan, for example, and fly through some of the valleys there. You go from blinding sunlight in one moment and then as you pass behind the mountain the world has a darker feel. It reminds me of walking through some of the think pine forests where I grew up as a kid... I was always glad to get back into the sunlight.

Shadows are nice to have in a game, though. I love running through a forest and seeing the tree shadows swaying on the ground when the wind picks up right before a storm hits. If I had to chose between two eye candy features though, I'd give up shadows in a second as long as it meant keeping the approaching weather effects. Seeing a storm approaching to me greatly outweighs and feelings associated with shadows.

Don't get me wrong I didn't want to solo but I think I was the only gamer on the server at the time so it as a little forced.  Second, when you were lucky enough to get a group the game almost demanded that you have a perfectly selected group that required A,B,C,D,E,F character types.  Add to this the vast distances if you did see a group that could use you they would be several minutes away.  Add the cherry of having all dungeons public you would find yourself in the midst of other groups and fighting over bosses.

Vanguard suffers (suffered) the same issue as most MMO's but only more so IMO.  I have no idea why companies make group missions miles away from anything and then expect players to travel 30 minutes or stand around for hours looking for more members.  BRING IN AUTOMATIC GROUPING!!  If I could search for a group and automatically be summoned to them and on completion you are sent back to you original source then I would have enjoyed Vanguard so much more.

I am half tempted to go back to the game but there are too many big titles on the horizon...still have happy memories of the game though.

Hmm I've never had a problem finding solo content in my 40s, but with the riftway system now I'm only at max about 20 minutes travel time away from anywhere on the map. I tend to find VG grouping pretty lax, as multiple classes can fill multiple roles.

All dungeons used to be public until WoW ruined dungeons for all games. To me, multiple gorups of adventurers in the same dungeon reminds me of UO, EQ1 and the like. In those games, there was an honorable rotation system among groups for the big targets and so far I have seen similar behavior in VG. Multiple groups in a similar dungeon feels more 'right' to me than one group being the only 5-6 adventurers in the entire game world that have found this mystery dungeon (instancing)... instanced dungeons are what chased me away from EQ1.

I believe automatic grouping has been tried in a few games and was never popular. From what I remember, auto grouping opened the door to ninjas and loot stealers, along with griefers, whiners and children (behavior-wise, not age-wise). I also remember it being hard because when you asked for a warrior you only got warriors... other tank types wouldn't get acknowledged.

Come back to the game, but wait for the trial island first to revist the land... those big titles on the horizon are going to be a bunch of over-hyped AoC affairs.
