- First thoughts on playing ff xi
FFXI is the MMO love of my life. I don't think there wilil ever be a game as great or as perfect in my mind as FFXI is/was. I have a very special place in my heart for it and its world that seemed to be so mysterious and magical when I started playing it.
That said, here's my advice for people who think they want to start playing FFXI now: Stop! and back away slowly and carefully. Do not spend money thinking you will like this game.You just can't go from a game like WoW to a game like FFXI. Some people have, of course, but I think the vast majority will just be too turned off by too many by-design inconveniences. As much as I love it, I know it's outdated.
I just wish some of these new MMOs would incorporate the cooperative combat that FFXI and tone down the spamminess.

Vanguard, last I played, has a FFA pvp server.
Hope you bought your computer at NASA...
Oh and their PvP has no development or support. There is no organized pvp built in the game, though city raiding was fairly popular. Classes are not balanced around PvP, so balance was a huge issue when I played.
