As far as the population goes, it all depends on what time of the day you were playing when you were choosing a server. Sometimes it'll say light load, but other times during later in the day it'll be medium/heavy.
A new update has gone live that is supposed to fix the stuttering issues of the 8800 series graphics cards. People are reporting good things from this fix on the official forums.
"Added a new option, "Reuse vertex buffers", in the "Display" tab under "Performance", this may help alleviate some of the stutter or stall issues seen on certain video cards. When set, the graphics engine will cache and reuse vertex buffers."
Man, why does text have such an impact on this game? Try doing /clearchat while running Fraps to display your FPS, and watch how much your FPS jumps back up.
Or try hitting f10 twice to make your whole UI dissapear. Your FPS jumps up a LOT. I've never seen a game where the UI hinders the game's performance so greatly.
I wish people would understand that a game with decent graphics and at the same time running at 60fps without having to spend $3,000 on a computer to run at that frame rate is a GOOD thing.
That's one of the many reasons WoW is so successful. It's not a very graphically demanding game, so any average computer can run it.
Now, this doesn't mean that WAR looks "crappy" or the graphics suck. From the gameplay videos that I've seen, WAR looks a lot better than WoW. Everything is just a lot more detailed looking.
Sigh, I hate to compare this game to WoW all the time, but everyone does it I guess.. *shrug* lol.
Sorry if this has been suggested already. I was reading on the official EQ2 forums, and someone suggested doing this to increase performance.
Options -> User Interface -> Game Windows -> Smooth Fonts -> Uncheck Smooth Fonts
Surprisingly enough, this actually gave me a 5-6fps increase in Darklight Wood.
Would you rather see a game release pushed back a year or have the game release witha few bugs that will be fixed?
