You know what''s disturbing... that i bet 99% of the girls you''re going to drool over in this game are going to be guys who made a female character just to drool over themselves - by miagisan

    • I voted Skaven, of course, the most cool race ever! But, they need to release two races at the same time for the sake of balance. So, Skaven and Lizardmen.... i guess.... im not sure.... Warhammer lore

No.... This still doesnt mean you cant enjoy and have fun in the game. We all know we are gonna buy the game when it comes out... even though we bitch about it know.

On a side note, we NEVER saw the other 4 cities, and i mean never. Kinda strange being this close to release dtae. Frankly, i never even thought bout them in the last 2 months. Cuz, all the videos we've seen have been Altdorf and Inevitable City.

      Be realistic.

Interesting.... They were going for a diff progression system... Man! That would be interesting! Instead, because of the players, we will again have levels and wow and eq2 and aoc and crap! And nothing will ever be different... cuz players want the same! They want to see level 38 besides their char name... they want uberduber gear, and weapons that give 3.9% to their intelligence and +3 to willpower... YAY!

Thank you beta testers for letting everything stale...

First - awesome Snoop avatar haha

Now a little history lesson on WAR (in particular its development and beta process).  Back in Beta 1 EA Mythic released the game to the testers in a very early state with the game setup the way they wanted - maybe even with this alternate progression system (I wasn't in the beta so I can't (NDA wouldn't let me anyway :P) speak to the specifics).

The reception was not good.  There were some technical problems and players disliked several things (progression and differentiation being often cited as the two keys).  The reception was so bad that they took down the beta for a few months before moving in to beta 2 which by all accounts was an amazing improvement - this beta including the new systems for masteries and other progression methods.

I know man i love her!

Back on topic, all we can do for now is speculate.  Lets just hope its not THAT geared towards levels and gear but towards some skill.

Yeah, I heard those rumors waay back - WAR being a level-less game... and that originally made me stand up and notice it.

However, the REASON Barnett gives for introducing levels is quite valid - instant recognition of relative player power.

The impression I get from WAR at this point is that it actually is a "level-less game in disguise". You're supposed to reach max level pretty fast when the real progression begins in the form of renown ranks, guild ranks, tome unlocks etc. In addition the power level curve is supposed to be quite a bit less steep that the norm. No "level 30 has no chance whatsoever against level 40 here".

I suppose tiers 1 and 2 are going to go by so fast you can consider them a tutorial part of the game. At tier 3 the chicken mechanic doesn't work anymore so it is reasonable to assume that a T3 character has a chance against a T4...

In addition T4 areas are almost as large as all the other tiers put together (or maybe much larger) so I suppose WAR will try to get you to the "level-less" part of the game as fast as possible and keep you there.

Renown ranks start at early stage.  It is not a leveless game, the grind of grinding levels and renwon ranks starts preety early, and no it is not easy to level up, shall i tell you why?  Because before the focus testing started I actually tried my hardest to lvl up a choppa the highets i got to was lvl 30 and that was just a pure pure pure grind like ive never seen.  Made my eyes bleed.

Hmm, we shall have to see... Who knows what are the final leveling times going to be? And while renown ranks ARE just another additional parallel level advancement system, there are other ways to advance your character.

The whole debate about levels is getting a bit ridiculous imo... For example, over time WoW transformed into a basically level-less game... "The game begins at max level." Duh... Players spend most of their time at max level there, collecting reputations, gear and stuff... They might as well make all areas in the game level 70 and give an option to create a max level character right at the start. The majority of players see leveling only as a chore they have to perform to get a new max level (read "useful") alt.

WAR is extremely top heavy content-wise. To continue comparing it with WoW (gasp) it is as if the whole of Outland and one half of Kalimdor is 70+...  I'd be very very surprised if they make leveling a big part of the game. And you have to take into account the relative power levels bit... If a rank 30 can compete with a fresh rank 40 (equivalent to WOW's 53 vs 70) then it is not really a level-based game.

Anywayz, we'll find out eventually what's the score in that department.

One can only hope. I mean, i have nothing against levels, every famous rpg had levels, but in a way that it doesnt matter wether you are a lvl 5 or a lvl 30 you can still have a fair chance. Levels in SRPGs have always been a representation of how powerful a character is, not how many hours he spent grinding or whatnot to get there, and getting that uber lvl 30 gear... And so we are getting to the point of uber gear and gear based mmos... so i guess my whole point was, you cant beat another char that is 5 or so lvls above beacuse he has 5.8 more dps on his weapon than you... he acquired that weapon because hes an APPROPRIATE LEVEL for that WEAPON... and thats the whole point of level based mmos... gear

my only concern is...will war be like this?
