    • KOTOR MMO confirmed by Electronic Arts
    • G4 coverage of E3 supports that Lucasfilm and Bioware are allied in the production of a KOTOR game...described as an MMO..was on G4 yesterday. How reliable G4 sources are...that's another question. They mentioned it came from Bioware reps themseves. Definitely looks like a go.

    • Bioware does quality games. I don't want a WOW replica..but similiarities are probably unavoidable. A good, fun. expansive, immersive reasonably polished sci-fi game is long overdue..(I see the appeal of EVE online..but it's just not comprehensive enough for me)...A great sci-fi MMORPG of Biowares design...and StarWars to boot...I'll save judgement until the game hits my computer...but i believe it will rock hard.

I tend to disagree for 2 reasons.

      1)  I really don't think it "dumbed down" the game that much.  Were the quests really that much more difficult to complete without them?  I didn't seem to have a problem completing the quests before the sparklies or the question marks were there even without thotbott most of the time.  They really only come in handy when something like Thottbot was needed and in those cases I'd prefer to have a little in game help then have to rely on an outside source.

      2)  I think it did add something to the game.  I actually realized that I missed a number of quests the first couple times thru the game and were able to do them later.  You know all those quests that don't start with an NPC, but rather a small sign or something on a wall?  Well those are actually quite easy to miss, until they put a big exclamation mark on it.  Now I never miss those.

I think too much is being made of the change.  The sparklies themselves aren't really all that visible, they only become obvious once you are very close and they don't appear on the minimap at all.  Now a couple of the quests that you complete by finding an item that have a big question mark on the minimap are a bit much and I'd prefer they were given a sparkly too, but it didn't ruin anything for me.

Your first point is a good one. I understand what you're saying on your second point...but there are many things I missed with one toon...that i stumbled across on later toons...scattered quest items and such. I enjoyed this aspect of the game...like finding  20 bucks in an old jacket you haven't worn in a while...just the small pleasant surprise. That's a sad loss to me...but you're correct..the overall game hasn't changed...and I still enjoy playing.

I tend to agree with Kyleran...I understand some people play "hardcore"...some "casual" and some in between. If there was an hourly charge then sure...the more hardcore players deserve exclusive gear...but this is not the case. Everyone...whether you play for 2hrs a month or 30 hours a week...pays the same monthly fee. We all pay the same...therefore the rewards should be the same...for the most part.
