Honestly these forums are the wrong place to ask about this game. Everyone here is jaded because there were a bunch of features missing from the game which were promised from release. In their defense, the game was released in a very unfinished state.
However, the game is not all bad. It has a very unique combat system which is very entertaining (at least at first). It also has great graphics (the best of any massive to date) and a very immersive world.
If you are a fan of MMORPGs, you will no doubt thoroughly enjoy this game for a while. Unfortunately, the massive amount of missing content will eventually get to you and you will quit... quite likely leaving the game as jaded as everyone else on these forums.

Well according to these forums(mmorpg.com in general) decent MMO's don't exist .So it's not only SOE housing a bunch of dead products I guess.

There is so much bitching on these forums about every game. It seems to me that most of the people who hang around mmorpg.com cannot be satisfied by any game and just get their kicks from talking smack about every one they play.
And yes... I too have been guilty of this. I think a lot of us are just a little too jaded for our own good.
I just recently purchased and installed the game and unfortunately the population is pretty lacking.
Such a shame since I think this game has a lot of potential.

My worst release top 5 is:
Shadowbane
Anarchy online
Asherons Call 2
Vanguard
Starwars galaxies or World of Warcraft, can't decide.
Age of Conan is frankly miles ahead in terms of lacking content, game breaking bugs and general downtime. Not that Age of Conan is the perfect game, and I can definetly see how the relatively high system requirements, and how they ultimately put players on low end machines off the game, can be compared to vanguard.
Conan had a better release than WoW? oooook ![]()
I actually think that anduz is right about this. Age of Conan had a lot going for it at release that other games (even WOW) did not. I remember when WOW was first released, the servers were crashing all the time, classes were pretty imbalanced, there were 0 battlegrounds, absolutely no reason to PvP (sound familiar?), and several zones (like Silithus) were completely empty and without content.
The biggest difference I think is in the community. We players are not as tolerant of missing or incomplete features as we once were...
In fact, I think many people have come to expect WOW-like polish (as it is today) from games at release... as unrealistic as that is. It really is unfortunate because I don't think any game can compare at launch with some of the games that have been out and constantly improving for years. And thus we are all repeatedly disappointed time and time again when games fail to live up to our expectations.

I can honestly say I've only been killed by the ape king once, and that was when i first started playing. Anyone that dies to him who just started playing must really suck.
So... you're saying you really suck?
How did you discover MMORPG.COM?
