    • A warning to all newcomers about Funcom
    • They are well aware of the fact that the lost password option doesn't send the info.

      Why?

Becuase it was broken before AoC even went live (aka its been a standing issue with people who decided to come back to AO).

In general they were very speed about answering account emails.. perhaps with all the people needing help with AoC they are overwhelmed.

While its true that the poster can have their CC company decline or reverse the charges.  It in general will result in the account being perma banned.

Which is why its something that should have been taken care of by Funcom.  Of course if you are sure you don't ever want to play that account again.. I suppose its not much of a price to pay to get your money back.  Rather than wait around for them to fix the issue...

First off I'd want to say you must be rather weak minded or not able to think very well.

Yet that would be an insult such as you toss around the term "care bear whiners".

So if you are speaking in terms of PvP.. yes it should be "open world".

When the 90% of subscribers who PvE (yes I've worked in the industry and the accepted standard is 90% of customers will be what you term "care bears") are sent to a very dangerous place.

They step foot inside to find... 100 other adventures.  They can wander the tower, dungeon, castle .. whatever it is with absolutely no fear.. no challege... because every mob is camped.

      Thus instancing.

MMO's should be mostly based on large open world or seamless world settings.

However, when a place is described as very dangerous and I walk in to find every mob camped... to find that I could walk a level 1 though this place... I find that boring... and non immersive.

So again that's what instancing should be for...  If you can't think of that.. or understand that... well there really isn't much more to say.

      That's not the point.

The point is if you are using code from a game that actually works now... and have 5 years to mold it to your new project.  The crap should more or less work out of the box.

Instead of a company running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

At least from my perspective.. using pre-existing code should be something you do to:

      1) shorten development time

      2) You already know how it works (goes back to 1) and should cause less issues later.

That to me is the point...

So one has to wonder if this was the way it always was.. or if they tried to do this instead in order to hit a street date.

I didn't buy AoC so that I could be unhappy and crap on it on a forum.  I paid the money I did hoping for an enjoyable game.  I actually enjoyed AO at launch (yes I might be the only one!!).

    • When AoC launced you would see alot of dismay in general chat.  No I don't mean a bad launch or the other launch type issues.

Just some things don't really make sense unless you did play AO.

People would ask about weapon stats... as they don't really make sense.  Yet if you played AO they used the same exact system.

You know where it is supposed to show the dps rating of your weapon.. but it really doesn't make sense.

Like a very slow weapon might say:  1.3s

Where a very fast weapon will say:  1.8s

(because they aren't showing you weapon speed but its some dmg rating in regards to seconds that isn't really explained).  I haven't played AO in a long time so I could relate.

The sad part to me I guess is that AO has really come around as a game.  If they stripped much out of it to make AoC it should have launched in a better condition than it did.  And if they had to do it because they had to launch by X date.. WTF were they doing for the last 5 years?

    • Good job vets!
    • What did I win exactly?

Did I win a skill based game with cool things like bio engineer and creature handler?

I mean if my "big win" was a level/class based linear aka story driven game..

      I'd rather lose.
