    • Why is PvP such a "dirty" subject?
    • im a carebare in WoW, i really hate the pvp in there, but i like the PVP in EVE 0.0 systems a lot ( at least before capital ship came ), but to the point, class/lvl based games fails big in the fact that almost anyone u can estimate their lvl and or class but its "tooltip" or targeting window, esp if their below your lvl, such a thing only works in the benifit of gankers tbh ( yea, i do think about wow.:P ), and big enough lvl advantage and u wont even have to worrie about the others doing any dmg to you and at the same time u can nuke em all to hell with one easy to use AoE ability, and class system is also has a bit problem since the best balance u can achive between classes in those is something similar to "Paper, rock, scissors" . it also almost need an seemless world or you get zoning that just a ambush waiting to happen, its also easy to spot class and some times estimate lvl by looking at the gear other players is using, esp in gear dependent games skill based games are also much harder to create to make it balanced and letting ppl getting a lot of different playstiles to choose from thous it need a lot more work in pre-development costing money so its easier to make a class/lvl based system.

    • what classes are missing from the mmo world.
    • usally ive been against class structures in games since as a rouge u could go slaughtering tons of monters to lvl up and at top lvl u could go and pick the hardest lock in the world without even looking at a lock before..  thankfully EQ and later WoW changed that and its starting to be a bit acceptable..   but still..  

      But to build a skill based skill system is hard aswell, was a old pen and paper rpg here in sweden that did a good job doing it on paper at least, saw someone making into a game but it really lacked the puplicity and some ways they did the game just didnt make it fun playing, ei. the makers translated a lot of these enlish one-liners direcly to swedish ( without grammar correction or anything ) and with an not that commited actor doing the voice, together with that they just spammed it everytime u did anything just puts you off. but still a would love to see that game as a computergame again. game ( paper and computer version ) is called "Drakar och Demoner" and it was the old version 2 and "Expert" edition that made it into game. its up to version 7 or somthing atm.

      hmm.  dont this thaat would fly well in a MMO world.  esp together with the "Lawyers" class, i keep picturing a world with similar mechanics as wow, some player died, you as mortician comes and pick up the body and start burying it, the player returns to corpse and res, the lawyers comes and sues your ass for buring someone that isnt dead.

    • im not a fan of warhammer, but i do remember ia interview with the lead designer of the wery first Warcraft strategi game, and he was talking about getting a feel and look like the one in Warhammer. so if anyone is copying anything its warcraft..  as usual.

       

      /PS dont ask me to find that link, its probably out there but the amounth of search hits u need to go through is just mindblowing atm.
