Oh so you have up your staffing to get ready for this influx ? If not = fail. You will not be able to moderate this at all. If we want Youtube, thats right we will go to Youtube.
Thank you for your opinion, however I don't think that Youtube should be the only user-submitted video website on the Internet. No more than I think Walmart should be the only store or TGI Fridays the only restaurant. We want a place where people can post videos to the MMORPG.com community. And yes, we will moderate them as needed, just like the live broadcasting.
Again, will people get through and send videos that people end up seeing? Yes. This happens now with forum posts and the screen shot galleries. Having police does not mean there will be no crime, it just creates a deterrent from those crimes and hopefully a punishment for them. That is all we can offer.
We cannot just refuse to have these great features because there are bad people that will use them for bad things. That is like not allowing people to drive cars because some people decide to drive when drunk.

I don't know why live video would be more of a problem than video recorded 15 minutes ago and posted as a video upload (which is something we hope to offer our users in the near future as well). Considering there's also rules against selling beta keys on this site, yet threads keep getting reported but remaining up, maybe that's why we don't exactly take comfort in you saying you'll handle it.

Well, it will be like any of our other content reallly. Users can post screens or textual descriptions of NDA protected materials and we rely on reports from users and/or game developers to shut off the content and ban the users responsible. This will be no different. While someone can start streaming something innapropriate, it will result in a ban and us shutting off the feed as soon as possible.
Perhaps, and we will deal with everything in time. However I know people post beta videos on sites like YouTube.com. As long as YouTube does not provide a specific mechanism for this activity and if they remove such content as it is reported - there really is no liability on thier part. We always have and always will take an active stance against people using our site to share private information protected under a NDA.
I just deleted one such topic that popped up on the home page that caught my eye (i'm not a mod, but if I see this on the "recent posts" list I will blast them - and my bans are usually much harsher than other team members
). If you see these things please report them using our report tool or email Laura directly at community@mmorpg.com - to my knowledge we would never condone such a thing. If you still cannot get a topic deleted like this - email me and I will find out what is going on.
