E3 Demo Impressions

Despite huge announcements from every studio this year at E3, all of the news was focused around West Hall Room 512. CD Projekt Red’s next in-depth RPG takes to the streets in a dark future. Cyberpunk 2077 was shown in a fifty-minute demo which kept everyone in awe by its scope, adaptability, and amazing visuals which bring a new level to the first person and RPG genre. We jokingly referred to it as Grand Theft Blade Runner, but it is much more than that.

Sponsored Ntroy Introducing the World to Phoenix Dynasty 2 (SPONSORED)

Ntroy has announced the opening of Phoenix Dynasty 2, a game that has launched on four continents. Phoenix Dynasty 2 is an old school MMO that provides players with the features they most look for in a modern MMO experience.

Open Beta Opinions

It has been roughly a week since Dauntless made the switch from closed to open beta. As part of the move, Phoenix Labs included a number of polishing touches and updates to welcome in new players. And, despite a rocky start, it seems to have worked - over 800 thousand players joined the fight since servers went live.

Closed Beta First Impressions

Feel the water on your face as you race your way through the waves, or feel the air flow through your hair as your car whips around a corner, figuratively speaking of course. The Crew 2 picks up where the first one left off in terms of gameplay, graphics, and open world story missions. Your character selection process begins with picking your perfect avatar for the story ahead. The Crew 2 is very much different from the first game, and that’s definitely for the best.

Geode & Bomber Royale Preview

I never thought voxel MMO Trove could get anymore brighter or cuter but Trion Worlds has proven me wrong announcing Trove Geode and Bomber Royale last month, releasing both updates on the Public Test Shard shortly after. Yours truly has been on there taking it all in and this is what I have discovered.

Press Event Playtest – Monetization and Cash Shop

Bless Online’s recent press event provided the final piece of the MMO pie, and arguably the most important piece, Monetization. In the Korean and Japanese versions of Bless, the game is decidedly free to play, but how has Neowiz changed their position for the western audience, and how will that change affect any cash shop they plan in the game?

Press Event Playtest: More Blessness

In this article I will outline some of the features that we’ve already known about Bless, but in more detail in according to my personal experience after my hands-on experience during the press event. Whether you have been following Bless Online or you are brand new to Bless’ feature set, brace yourself for a bevy of incoming information.

Press Event Playtest: Combat Preview

Bless is a title that has been around for several years in Korea and more recently, it has had some success with a Japan release. Now with some hefty changes for western audiences, Neowiz is bringing Bless to Europe and North America. I was blessed enough (pun intended) to get some hands-on time with Bless Online at the Press Event to check out the changes, speak with the developers, and experience in-depth gameplay first hand.

Kiwi Bird's Thorough Look at MapleStory 2's First Closed Beta

Maple Story 2 Closed Beta Test is in full swing this week and the kind folks over at Nexon invited us in to look. This gamer has a long standing, love-hate relationship with overly-cute and voxel games. Trove has helped soften my need for MMORPG realism preferences, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp also offered some resolve but I’m still not completely at ease and need to know: Is Maple Story 2 enjoyable for someone like me who's also never played the original? I couldn’t wait to jump in and see!

Incursion League Will Send You Back in Time Starting June 1st

The good folks at Grinding Gear are getting ready to unleash a brand-new Challenge league to its players when Incursion launches on June 1st. It’s going to bring some fascinating new content to players as well the chance to travel back in time over a thousand years. The goal for Incursion is, according to Chris Wilson, to blur the line between league and expansion and to give players new items, new areas, new monsters, new characters.

Closed Beta First Impressions

We all know the Maple Story 2 CBT has started and, as a long time player of the first MapleStory, I was lucky enough to get the chance to play this and write my impressions. I'm going to give you a rundown of my thoughts and things I noticed in the beta.

It Lurks Below Preview - We Take a Look at Dave Brevik's New Game

Many, many moons ago a man by the name of David Brevik helped to create a little game. That game was Diablo, it was somewhat successful. Over the course of Brevik's history he would also help with Diablo 2, now he's back with his own company Greybeard Games with their first game It Lurks Below. It's themed as a retro-styled, 2D, action-oriented, survival RPG that is currently a part of Steams Early Access program. This is our preview of It Lurks Below.

Eden Rising: An Open World Tower Defense Survival RPG

Eden Rising from Nvizzio is definitely a novel idea. Nvizzio is comprised of many ex-Funcom Montreal folks, and though they’ve done a fair bit of contract work in the past, Eden Rising: Supremacy is their first wholly original offering and it’s based on their own brand new Sci-Fantasy IP. It’s part online RPG, but survival game, part tower defense, and all kinds of awesome looking.
