Actually I was wearing a social item called sandals of the bloody road.  The shoes ooze blood leaving bloody footprints where you walk.  Obviously it tends to pool up a bit if you sit down.  This was one of a sequence of screenshots I took, I removed the shoes in the other ones, but this was the only one with the King framed nicely and I thought it wasn't too noticeable.
