I really wish we could explore more than just a small box of the exploration worlds this game generates. Some are really pretty.

That would have been nice. It would have also been nice to have more 'space' to actually explore. Like to explore an entire system like you can in Eve Online (travel to each and every planet, moon, asteroid belt, even the star). Right now STO is really cramped and linear. It's a pity.

I have to agree. Exploration, instanced and cramped as it is in STO, still feels infinitely more fun and more like actual exploration than Eve ever did. Eve has never been very good at representing proper scale, nor has it been very good at filling the tons of empty space between said objects to make them interesting. STO feels cramped because its boxed in around planets, Eve feels too open because its instances are around entire solar systems with lots of nothing filling them.

The  Eve exploration system also consists of grinding a pain in the ass mini game just to unlock the location of a randomly generated instance of which there are about 5 types before you've seen them all.

tl;dr, STO could learn a few things from Eve, but Eve could definitely learn some things from STO.
