Conquer Online is one of the first 'traditional' MMOs to make the leap from PC to iPad. In our latest review, we take a look at the iPad version of Conquer Online to see how it measures up and how well it made the transition. Read on and then let us know what you think in the comments.
Conquer Online by TQ Digital Entertainment is an Asian F2P MMO that was released in 2004 and exhibits many of the typical features such as steeds, in-game marriage, PvP and purchases of potions – health, mana, XP, buffs as well as basic crafting components and additional bank and inventory space. There isn’t a background storyline but a setting – ancient China as evidenced by the buildings, but there are also green-skinned orcs. There is also a form of “automatic play” in Conquer Online in the automatic pathing as well as in-game training that I shall elaborate on. And now it’s ported to the iPad, and works amazingly well.

The good folks at GamesRadar.com have a new interview with Funcom's Martin Bruusgaard about the deck system that will be utilized in The Secret World.
The complexity of the "freeform progression" that The Secret World uses, the team thought that perhaps a "Deck" would give players guidance in how to actively combine skills to form synergy. Each society will have ten decks available and players will receive a spiffy outfit when completed. Of course, this shouldn't rule out experimenting on one's own to find the perfect combination a player is looking for:
I believe a lot of players will take a look at the decks when they start playing, and start working towards one. This process has some great treats to it, since we can use it as a tool to teach players the different layers of synergy. Players will soon realize that, in many cases, wielding two weapons is optimal. Later they will realize that the abilities have synergy through the state system, meaning that an ability can do X, but if target is in state Y the X AND Z happens.

Yes, Pat Benetar said it years ago, "Love is a battlefield" and Silkroad-R devs want you to remember that with the inclusion of their Valentine's Day themed content.

Players who have just ingested the sweet treat will have a floating heart above their heads. Couples can also participate in the Date Money contest by submitting a screenshot of themselves with hearts over their heads. Twenty winners will receive a special wedding avatar and Silk currency to spend on a "date" in game.

There are many ways that our games employ the idea of exclusion, wrongly so in most cases. In today's Devil's Advocate, we take a look at what exclusion is and how we and the folks who make our games can work together to be more inclusive. Check it out!
Today, I'd like to discuss this culture of exclusion with some examples of how certain sectors of the MMO gaming world make some players feel like second-class citizens in a realm where people should be generally equal. I'd also like to show some examples of ways in which the reverse is happening and a culture of inclusion is trying to be put forward, as well as what you can do to change the culture that pervades the gaming landscape today.

SteelWar Online players will have the opportunity to bind equipment at various times throughout the game. What the dev team feels makes their system unique is that equipment can be 'unbound' with the caveat that it will take three days to do so.
A warrior’s equipment is his/her greatest ally. While developing SteelWar Online, PopPace is pulling out all stops to figure out how to guarantee the security of players’ equipment. In the universe of SteelWar Online, players will be entitled to bind their equipment with their characters at any time as they please. Bound equipment can’t be degraded or sold. Of course, players can choose to unbind equipment at their will. However, it will take 3 days to complete the application. Before the countdown time ends, the target equipment can’t be degraded or sold either. Feel free to cancel the application and keep your equipment bound.
