While his name might not invoke the same terror as that of his colleague the Inquisitor General Torquemada, Baltus is equally devoted to his cause, and often more militant in his pursuit of it.

A bull of a man, his role is often more one of enforcement than punishment. He has traveled the breadth of Europe resolving the Inquisition's problems, usually in a manner more direct than many of his colleagues are comfortable with. Indeed, he is often the one called upon when the local office is unable to bring a problem to a satisfactory conclusion.

Always pragmatic, Baltus is aware that to protect the faithful, one must often take upon oneself the sins they are not willing to commit.

This willingness to shoulder burdens that others cannot often leads to the local clergy lending him support more in name than deed, and it is not unusual to find Baltus alone even amongst his peers. He is used to their derision though. One cannot blame the sheep from resenting the shepherd, it is their nature.
