The good folks over at GamerGod.com have posted an exclusive interview with Jon Shellenberger, the project lead at Sentinel Studios about their upcoming MMORPG "Centia Online." Here is some of what was said:
|GamerGod: For our readers that have not yet heard of Centia Online, can you tell us a bit about yourself and what sort of game you envision it being when it is finished? |
Jon: My name is Jon Shellenberger. I am the project leader for the game and I will also be doing level design and some modeling. I started this project after I tried Anarchy Online and Neocron. Though I did like AO and Neocron, I was not thrilled with a lot of things they had to offer. Neocron's combat system was just not logical to me. The more I thought about it, I came to the question of "Should I make my own game?" I then searched the net for info on doing this sort of thing. After that I started doing a design document and also went on the Gamedev.net forums searching for some help. I was blasted with spam and hateful people who didn't know what they were talking about.
Only a few people who replied were not against me, but did spell out the truth of what I was in for. After a few weeks, I got an email from a programmer and then another week another programmer, but that last one turned out to be our webmaster. That's where it all began. I envision this to include all parts of sci-fi MMORPGs you could ever want and include some areas of fantasy games. Exploring space and the planets and moons within and being able to fight a massive war across many systems
