Read the full patch notes here. The patch notes are translated from the Korean PTS release of 1.9, there is currently no date set for 1.9's Western release.
As for Aion v. 2.0, new zones will be introduced, and we know that the level cap will be increased to Level 55, as additional Level 55 wings have been revealed. Also, a new Airflow flight system will be added, allowing players to zip through paths of airflow, gaining huge bursts of speed.
You can view the new Airflow System, as well as other assorted stills and clips from Aion v.2.0 here.
[Thanks EricDanie for the tip!]
wow that video really surprised me. Looking forward to it when it comes here.
all they have to do is get rid of the mid level grind and the game would be great.
Wow, is everything in Aion so... "pretty?"
Some of the characters in the screenshots look like perfect porcelain dolls.
Dam, nice update...but eeek level cap increase >_<
There's no lvl cap increase coming in 1.9 which is slated to be released in the US in the first half of this year. On NCSoft's schedule that most likely means June ( I could be wrong but i've been playing since closed beta). 2.0 probably won't hit till x-mas time at which point many players will have tapped out the current content.
I swear, to this day I never understood what ppl mean with WoW rippoff.
I play both games and I dont see anything from wow in aion. The artwork is completely different, the lore is completely different, the races are different, the classes are different, the game focus is different, and most important, the combat system and the combat mechanics have absolutely nothing to do with each other, completely different. So, I fail to see what's the same here. Apart from the user interface ofc, but what the hell, lotro, warhammer, etc, all had similar user interfaces...
But ofc, whatever, we all have the right to an opinion. Pity some people base their out of their own misconceptions of what a game truly is.
I just submitted a support ticket the other night at 7PM Eastern and it was resolved by 8AM. Also considering WoW revolves around Raids and BG's and there are 0 of those present in game, open world pvp that ppl actually participate in, etc. it is hardly a WoW Ripoff. It certainly shares elements of that game, but WoW stole most of it's own elements from other games anyway and every game that comes out in any genre has similarities so this argument is just old and shows no effort on your part. I left WoW for Aion and haven't looked back once.

The people who call games WoW-ripoff/clones are the people who played WoW as their first MMORPG. They don't realize that MMOs existed before WoW and that one of the many reasons why WoW was so popular was because they took everything other MMOs at the time that was being done well and refined it, including the UI. Take this for example?

OMG WoW clone!?
No, actually it's AC2, which was released like 2-3 years BEFORE WoW. People who say LotRO is a WoW clone really irk me, since Turbine made both AC2 and LotRO.

exactly ;)
These updates sound nice, maybe I'll resub soon after I finish all the console games I need to beat.

Not only that, I would even go on a limb and say on a whim that a decent population of WoW players aren't real gamers to begin with. All they know is WoW, and that their game is #1 (from nothing more than from a population perspective, imo).
Regardless, I can't wait for the day where one person, won't mention a single thing about WoW an another MMO's topics, but I don't think t hat's coming anytime soon. Back on topic to the patch....I briefly read through the notes and noticed there really was no attention brought forth to lowbies, people such as my previous self (didn't play past free month) that are < lvl 25. Everything appears to be focused around 30+. I wish they had mini-instances or something for people to group up for for below 25, but not seeing anything still...
I agree with this. Another issue was the lack of options. When leveling up from 10-20 you go through the same zone doing the same quests you did the last time you leveled an alt. Other games usually have more than 1 zone to go through to level until you get to the endgame. Aion was go to Zone A til 20 then Zone B til 30, that got old quick.
