Champions Online : Blood Moon Live Today! New Trailer!

Posted Oct 27, 2009 by Michael Bitton

Champions Online's first major update and event hits live servers today! To coincide with the update's release, a new trailer has been released over at IGN highlighting some key points of the update.

The first key point is the Dawn of the Undead Heroes event, which centers around the ancient lich Takofanes, who has reanimated 13 of the heroes slain during the Battle of Detroit, and is unleashing them and hordes of zombies upon the city. 13 portals will be opened throughout the world with hordes of zombies pouring out of them, should players defeat them, they will be able to enter the portal themselves and attempt to free the soul of one of the undead heroes. Players who release all 13 heroes from their bonds will unlock the Celestial power set two weeks before their official release.

The second point discussed in the trailer is the "BITE!" event, which features Hunters vs. Werewolves gameplay, with players being able to either take the role as a hunter or werewolf in an attempt to quell or fight back the other side. Be wary though, if you die to a werewolf you will also receive the curse and turn into one yourself!

Finally, James Laird, PvP Designer on Champions Online describes a new PvP map being introduced with the update called "Zombie Apocalypse." Zombie Apocalypse is a PvP map that takes place in Canada where a small group of heroes are holding the fort at a cabin in an attempt to fend off a zombie assault. Any hero that dies will turn into a zombie themselves, and the goal is to be the last hero standing.

It sure looks cool, but there is one inconsistency. Imagine you created a Hero who IS a sort of undead? Or a Werewolf? Or I used to have a main char who was a Robot boy, sorta like Astroboy X Red Tornado. How can a robot being infected with Lycantrophy or turned into a a zombie?

Imagination. Think the point is more about the EVENT and the Fun of it. Not your Supertoons Origins.

Just take the event for what it is - fun. If you have a problem with it... don't play it.. do not bitch about it. I think the even is a fun way for the developers to provide an extra twist to the gameplay and a VERY nice way to implement the new patch.
