Wizard101 : Appealing to the Hardcore Gamer?

MMORPG.com's Garrett Fuller spoke with Randall Lekan of The Syndicate, a hardcore MMORPG guild, to find out what appeal Wizard 101 could have for a player more familiar with a more hardcore style.

Wizard 101 has been planned out as a kid's game. How did hardcore MMO players like you get involved?
Randall Lekan:
Kingsisle approached Dragons, the Guild Master of The Syndicate, and offered to allow us to joing the BETA. Initially I tried it out and liked it enough to add my children's accounts. At the time we were playing Toontown but my boys had lost interest so we were not playing as much. By the end of the BETA we were hooked and subscribed when the game went retail.

Can children be considered hardcore gamers?
This game is for kiddies and their mommy's and daddy's.

Mostly the title. I have a hardtime taking any of these kiddie mmos seriously.
My kids love them though their eight and ten (the ones that play games).
With that said why are you even covering this? Do children read this forum?

We're covering it because it's an MMO, and we cover MMOs, and we DO have a large percentage of parents who frequent this site. It's not your cup of tea, that's fine. You don't have to like everything, but making uninformed comments on articles you haven't read is, well, offensive. If you don't want to read about a game. Don't. It's really that simple. This is really just trolling.
Yeah, Hardcore and "Wizardry 101" shouldnt be used in the same sentence... Its like trying to form a PK Griefer guild in Hello Kitty Online (tried it, lol) its only fun for a few hours and it loses its charm.
It looks like a very nice game even for adults, I don't see a reason not to cover this game.
It's probably not going to attract any "ultra hardcore" EVE players but that actually seem like a game that I would play once in a while.

What I did was trolling? Honestly, I think you may be letting all the flames and criticisms of every article you post get to you man.

Personally I wasnt flaming anyone (I think its good they cover ALL MMO's) but to not see a difference between being hardcore in Eve and Wizardry 101? Thats flame worthy =P
I havnt played Wizardry 101 (so yes, I am making assumptions) BUT having played EVE- I dont think any game on the market will be as "Hardcore" as EVE- especially a game aimed at Children and Harry Potter fans (not knocking Harry Potter either-)

You miss the point as I see it.
I am a hardcore gamer (which by the way has nothing to do with PvP...it has to do with how much you game and ALL of it's aspects) and I would try Wizard 101...cause it's a well made MMO. I might not play for long. But as a hardcore gamer, I would HAVE to at least try it

I understood from the begining but wanted to have a bit-o-fun.
Wizard 101 is quite a fun, and well-made MMO. I think many would be surprised at just how many adults play the game. If you haven't at least tried it, try it, you may be pleasantly surprised.
