A demo... very cool of them.
Although it may not be a MMO in the traditional way, the genre would truly benefit from demos/trials avaiable at or even before release. Just because we played WoW it doesn't mean anything that tries a fantasy setting needs no trial.
I guess it is more related to a very common bad habit of buying a game out of an impulse rather than after some thought - giving them a trial may actually hurt sales more than benefit, sad truth. Better to win $50 for someone that plays for 7 days and then quits than giving him a free trial/demo to quit before even paying anything.
The change included the disbanding of the two-year old forums, without warning to the fans. And a requirment to re-register.
All of the suggestions, ideas, threads, etc from the last two years are gone, being "stored" by MC somewhere....
And going foward, they plan to visit the forums of "fansites" to communicate with the players, instead of having an official forum. And we know how that usually works out for mmo's.
Things aren't looking good.
Hmm, so it looks like 1 month will be $9.25, 2 months will be $15, and 3 months will be $19? Strange prices. Still, nice new site. I beta'd the game and I hope it improves from what I saw, but I've always enjoyed Simcity-type games from time to time, and adding a persistent multiplayer aspect to it is an interesting idea.
Unless it changed since i played its kinda pointless...isn't really a mmo. It's just a sim city ~ with online trades between city. The towns don't even evolve while you're off. That was a major turn off for me at least. So you basicly pay a montly fee to play sim city with a chat
Looks fun, gonna try the demo in the afternoon as it is already out. =)
Played the beta and it was a dissapointment.
I wonder if they have made much of a change lately. It's impossible to get on thier site nowadays with the constant server issues.
I don't know why this game is even featured on this site. I thought it was going to be SP only, then the MMO thing got "popped in" then all the drama at the forums about the PO and now this "demo"...... Just WoW MonteCristo.
Mabye the little masively comic about the cities killing rats made sense. In a way. We;re all killing rats.... trying to find the best mmo in the middle of a sea of junk broken tresure cheasts of junk clutter looking for a good weapon or armor or enchant.
I wish MC the best of luck in dealing with the potential shit storm that may hit them. They will learn the very hard way.
