General : Dragon Ball Online: New Trailer!

Posted Aug 25, 2009 by Michael Bitton

A new trailer of Dragonball Online has surfaced on the YouTubes. The new trailer doesn't feature any actual gameplay footage, but does appear to be rendered within the in-game engine.

The trailer footage focuses on the the theme of teamwork, as a group of people deal with the threat of a large dinosaur creature, and then go on to team up with Goku against Vegeta.

Check out the new trailer here.

The official Dragon Ball Online website is now live as well.

Why does mmorpg.com always insist on bringing us "news" at least one day old? It's like I'm really reading the newspaper from yesterday.

Why do people like you insist on self centred whining?

To be fair they broke the news on WoW magazines a entire day before Maximum PC (who's publishing company Future US is making WoW Mag!)

I got into it because my nephew really liked it. Then I ended up modding a PnP game after it. It's a cool show, a little goofy at times, but generally enjoyable.

Been waiting for MMORPG.com to finally give DBO some love, been following it from the beginning. But for now so that everyone knows it's only being released in Japan and Korea. No U.S. plans have ever been announced. The day they do decide that we will get a stateside release is the day I will start my doomsday countdown timer on all other MMOs I play. For me DBZ was the thing that sparked my anime fire. And since it's being developed in Korea, I at least know that it will be as close to a functioning MMO as one based on the DB universe could be.

Seems like the MMO floodgates will now be open for any title that can make a buck.  Prepare yourselves for more coming soon MMO titles:  Harry Potter MMO, He-Man MMO, [insert favorite comic book title] MMO, Sponge Bob MMO, Disney MMO, Bugs Bunny MMO, Indiana Jones MMO, god I could go on for days!!  I hope the industry pulls this in before it gets out of hand.  Not all good movies, cartoons, comic books, action figures, etc. will make a good MMO.

Most of these suggestions would be quite good, minus the the last few; DBO deserves a special mention as an MMO because it is one of the few anime-verses that, if developed correctly, can translate well into the MMO-verse. Saying things like pulling it, etc. is rather childish, methinks.

Akira Toriyama, if I recall correctly, is himself directing the art-direction of the game, and it looks like it'll be a solid game -to- play, when it is playable. I'll likely drop by and check DBO out, myself, while dropping in to play SW:TOR; probably going to have a spasm-overload by the time both of these are out and about.

Seriously. Spasm-Overloard. Complete. Overload. D: I feel explody-feelings already.

I always thought a Harry Potter based MMO could be fun to play and would appeal to the masses but it seems like every commercial entity is starting to turn the gears for an MMO now.  That's what I meant that the industry needs to pull in not DBO.

I think DBO has the market appeal to be successful, as long as they make a good game I'm all for it.  The problem with commercially successful brands getting into the MMO market is that there just aren't that many good MMO devs out there.  If the trend continues then we'll have a lot of our beloved brands (GI Joe, Harry Potter, Disney, etc.) involved in crappy MMOs.  That's what I'd like to see get stopped before it's too late.

I will more than likely check out DBO when it's released but hopefully by then I'll be up to my neck in Republic corpses on SW:TOR.  Another example of a great brand that is making a MMO!

You did? Crap. I thought you meant otherwise. Sorry about that; I misunderstood, and I apologize for that. DBO seems to be shaping up good, but I'm not certain about the company; they're promising things, and if Toriyama hadn't been involved in it, I would've worried, but since Toriyama is in on it, and it's -his- universe, I'd say he'll make sure the game is polished, fits well within the verse, etc. before it's fully finished. So any lost faith in that company was dwindled to 'When is it coming out so I can beta it!?' xD As for TOR..I have complete faith in BioWare. They've never let me down, and I doubt they ever will.

They're barking up tree's and making great, quality products, and just from the 20 minute Gameplay Walkthrough they showed, I went into hyperventilation-mode. And that's supposedly not even fully polished, yet! I'll probably be up to my neck in Republic Corpses, Sith Corpses, and credits by the end of the first few days. >:

But, yeah; I would like the brands to get quality-devs behind them regarding things like Harry Potter, GI Joe; another mention of a brand I can't wait to check out is DCUO. I'll be busy for certain. Way busy. Those are all looking and shaping to be good, really. DCUO, SW: TOR, and DBO. I'll check all of them out, for certain, no doubt about that.
