EverQuest II : Video Interview with Alan Crosby

Alan Crosby has been promoted to Executive Producer of EverQuest II. We spoke to him at E3 about the game and where he and his team plan to take it in the coming months.

Congrats Alan, from a former SOE fanboi who quit when SOE and Smed decided to throw their integrity out the window and put station crap...er cash into the game. I am glad to hear of your promotion. Producing a dying MMO should be a real challenge..
So they're *finally* going to start properly utilizing GPUs... About damn time!
Shadows on GPU + upgraded shaders (finally!!), i guess i will be back in again.

No...why should we? Some of us paid to play that game for 3+ years only to have the game we bought and paid for ripped out from under us without so much as an apology or any kind of reimbursement for the money we spent on a game that we thought we'd be playing for years to come. Cut SOE some slack...no I do not think so.
Normally I am one of the neysayers. But this time, you are all simply wrong.
I resubbed about 4 weeks ago. This game is fantastic. The graphics are superb. I'm running a Gforce 9800 with maxed settings and it's absolutely beautiful. The new shadow effects will just make it that much better. The storylines are wonderful, the quests have meaning!
You can download the additional content and there is Voiceovers for EVERYTHING. When I click on an NPC to get a quest they talk to me for the entire story of the quest it's fantastic. The crafting is really very good. It is on par with Vanguard which has the best crafting I've ever seen.
I've said bad things about Sony myself. I am sorry the SWG people are so upset about losing what they loved in their game. That simply has no place here, though. Your wrong about this game. Plain and simple. You'd have to pull the hate covered blinders off to see that though, so it's really up to you now.
Everquest II is wonderful. Throwing hate at it will not change the fact. It is a really fantastic game. I was telling my family how I wished I had resubbed months ago instead of replaying other MMO's that lost my attention so very quickly.
Well, alot of us are watching Crosby with a suspicious eye, but all in all the game has actually been on an upward path lately.
There is still more to do in EQ2 than just about any other MMO around, and the move to FINALLY utilize modern hardware is definitely a +1.

You hit the nail on the head, it's like some ppl haven't yet realised this is the 21st century, you pay for everything, like it or move the heck on to something else, but for the love of god please let it go.
You know if you don't like the cracks on SOE, just ignore it. All these whines about the SOE complaints do is feed the trolls further and you end up being a troll yourself.
On that note, woe to you who turn a blind eye to SOE past doings. They have not shown to have learned anything from past mistakes. So you can never tell when your favorite game might be the next victim. As long as Smedley is in charge, nothing is safe.
EQ II is about the only decent game left in SOE's stable. Nice that they are improving it. They could definitely use more armor models though, hope that is on their additions list.
The only post that was complaining about anything in this thread was complaining about something related to EQ and EQ2. Why would they post it in the SWG forums, especially since this thread is about EQ2? You folks need to grow a thicker skin, since I doubt SOE is going to change how they do things anytime soon...

The game wasn't even out for 3 years when the NGE hit!
You so called vets really have lost all touch with reality, that you don't even know the current date we live in.
I was there from launch till the NGE hit! I was hurt too. I was very very angry too.
The only difference is, that I moved on. It's just a game and there are much more important things in life to worry about then to cry for over 5 years about some stupid pixels on a screen. Tjeez.

EverQuest 2 is a good game. And with the new graphics dev updating the graphics engine it shows they still take this game seriously.
I cannot wait for the new shader model 3.0 implementation. It will be awesome.

EQ2 is a very good game. I have quit for several months, twice, and keep on coming back. Warhammer, Vanguard, and Age of Conan just isn’t Everquest 2.
I am very surprised at the new things that have been added recently. They are making the game better day by day. With the new expansion coming out in November, it will only get better.
