MMORPG.com Correspondent Robert Sollazzo writes this look at the beta of GPotato's Luna Online.

We're sure you're noticing a trend in the free to play genre these days and it's not a particularly exciting one... A phenomenon wherein company 'X' produces a ridiculous number of MMO franchises in the hopes that you will eventually take note of one and hopefully invest. On one hand, I applaud this foray into the wild world of MMO capitalism since it exposes the massive multi player genre to the public at large and likewise creates competition for the more dedicated gamers. Competition theoretically means that said company will work harder for your dollar and will hopefully produce a better product in the processes. On the other hand, this projectile vomiting of titles also tends to endear the 'if it works, why fix it?' mentality, which has in turn has given rise to the MMO clone wars. These companies will invariably attempt to produce a cutesy MMO with an Asian-anime feel, a serious MMO probably featuring an ancient Chinese theme, some flavor of sports MMO and a fluffy socialization MMO if that wasn't already included in the cutesy-anime one. One need look any further than Konami as one of the more egregious offenders, and gpotato is rapidly joining the ranks with their newest effort: Luna Online.

I sort of agree with this review in the fact that you won't really see anything new, but what they have is done fairly well.
The mixture of steady leveling without that grind feel is what's kept me, unlike the vast majority of free MMOs out there. So it really doesn't matter to me if it's just "more of the same thing"... because all of those other "same things" got really boring after a few hours. Luna has enough little things (lots of crafting options, costumes, set items, families/farms, quests up the wazoo, open-ended classes (ie: Rogues can flip between the dagger-based and bow-based classes each time they're allowed to switch to a new upgraded class (level 20, 40, etc.)), mixed in with the fact that you can get a lot done even if you only have a few hours a week to play, to definitely make it better than the other f2p games out there.
I realy didnt like this review and if i had read it before trying the game i wouldnt even consider playing it.
First of all the graphics. In the review they are said to "run the gamut of mediocrity". Well this was anounced as an anime like game. So obviously the graphics can not be compared to realistic games, and although i respect the reviewer point of view, i belive them to be a well polished anime look-a-like graphics, with nice environments, and sure, they are bright and colourfull, but i suppose thats what people that wanna play this kind of games are looking for.
I do agree that the caracter customization is a litle poor, but do not forget there are 2 races that can follow almost the same classes bringing a bit more variety. Not to mention u can change or appearence in game by buying cash shop items, and even some sets that drop from monsters and work like the fashion clothes. Another feature is that fashion sets give u bonus stats, so you can change your appearence and still get some bonus.
The class system must be one of the best ive seen. Classes are nicely balanced in termes of pvp, and the best feature for me, is that u can choose a lot of diferent paths accordingly to ur play style, for ep. u can start as a mage and then coose to become cleric or a wizard at lvl 20, but wichever u choose, at lvl 40 you'll have the same jobs to choose from, meaning u can change ur play style every job change. So here u have another way to stand out in the crowd with a diferent and better build for ur class and play style.
As far as i've gone in game it came out to be very entertaining, easy to play, not boring and player friendly. The comunity is still growing, you can see many new players in the starter field wich is always good, people have been very nice and friendly to me, and you wont have a problem finding a family/Guild in game. Its very easy to make money, and to level, in about 5 days i got to lvl 30 and made about 4m in game cash and i do not play 24/7, but the quest surely help you and you even get a pair of wings ( u can choose to get ballons instead) at lvl 25 and give you a litle more speed, and you can also get a pet at lvl 20.
Thre are many helpfull gides in the forums that will help u choose a class and the path that best suits you, crafting and other in-game stuff that can be very interesting
There are some aspects i dont like as much, like the fact that u can only move by clicking the field, there is no WASD option, but u can easly adapt. though i would liketo, at least, see a auto-run and a auto-route option.
But overall i think that it is a great game and i would give a total of 8.5 stars in 10.
Sorry if you find hard to read this comment but my english isnt very good :P, hope u like this mini-review.
