Mir3 is coming in open beta next month...why promote age old mmo?
Because mir2 has a new company running it and paying rights to the developer. So basically it
is just an "Western" Re-opening.
But we all know the drill when the devloper itself isn't running a game directly. AKA - Game direction changes, Bad patches, Late patches from developer version.
Also lastly but not leastly, there are good odds that they will have the plug pulled on the company paying rights and the entire company will half to shut the game down for their service at the discression of the developer.
An amazing example is Space cowboy hosted by Gpotato went belly up when the developers denied the continued support. Then the develpers sold it to some new guys and they named it something like wings online, but after that they change it yet again to [Ace online] Overal the exact same game has like like 2 or 3 different publishers and that is like 2 or 3 differenet open betas for the exact same game.
Another great example is RF online. "The EU/US game service was brought down as of November 9, 2008, due to licence expiration. However, the developers, CCR have started to relaunch the game hosting it themselves for EU/US[2] It released on January 18, 2009"
