Shadow of Legend : SoL in 2.5 Dimensions

Posted Aug 12, 2008 by Keith Cross

SmartCell has announced that they will be launching what they call a 2.5D version of their 2D MMORPG, Shadow of Legend near the end of September.  The new version is expected to have improved graphics and animations, a reduced client size, new gameplay, and more.

Irvine, CA - August 10, 2008- SmartCell is pleased to announce Shadow of Legend 2.5D version. Shadow of Legend(SOL) is a 2D free to play fantasy MMORPG that brings out most the best aspects of games of this style while adding to it exciting twists of its own. The 2.5D version scheduled to release around end of September this year is expected to bring the ultimate SOL experience with a quantum leap.

As a 2D MMORPG, Shadow of Legend stands out based on its high quality graphics and a very rich user experience with a wide array of features. In creating Shadow of Legend, the developers leveraged features similar to those from hit games in the past and recent years, with an innovative approach. Many important emerging trends are present in the game’s design.  Character advance is one example, for the game provides a high degree of flexibility for the absence of pointless grinding, plentiful job choices, and the ability to change career path without starting from scratch. While the casual players can have plenty of fun, the game encourages cooperative and competitive playing through various facets including dungeons, instances, in-game events and a multitude of PVP options.

The upcoming 2.5D SOL is expected to enhance the SOL experience by an order of magnitude.

The difference lies in drastically reduced client size, much detailed graphics and better animation, and new gameplay focused on endgame content. The latter includes guild siege, team based arena PVP, set based crafting, skill combo, and many more. More details will be announced as the development progresses.
