General : NCsoft / Exteel Giveaway!

Posted Jul 02, 2008 by Craig McGregor

MMORPG.com has partnered up with NCsoft to bring an exciting new contest to our members!  From now until August 1, 2008 we will be taking entries into a sweepstakes where we will give away two 1GB VisionTek Radeon HD3870 X video cards, two iPod Nano's and a pile of NCsoft games!

NOTE: We are sorry, but due to shipping constraints, this sweepstakes contest is only available to our North American members.

As with all contests at MMORPG.com, the more days you login to the site, the better your odds of winning! (see official rules for details)

Are you ready to enter?  CLICK HERE!

Shouldn't that be 1GB, not 1 MB?

That would be my bad!  All fixed up now :)

Sorry about the North America only limits - this is a requirement from NCsoft I am afraid.

Hi, signed up by mistake, I live in Austraila, please take my name off of comp list, I signed in before I saw it's US & canada only.

Really annoyed with NCsoft now, what they can't afford postage?

Hell if I do win, I'll pay the postage cost for NCsoft if they can't afford it, can't be more than $40 au

That's just lame and rude NCsoft!

EDIT: yes I will try and post this in there forums as well and I'm not annoyed with mmorpg.com, you guys still do a great job.

Given that NCSoft have offices that serve Europe, a US-only competition is little more than the usual "we don't care" bird-flip that most of their customers are already used to.

Congrat's on staying true-to-form, NCSoft. Heh.

Says a lot about NCsoft. Doesn't inspire me  to try any of their games. In fact, I'll keep this in mind for whatever next they decide to publish.

In their defense, I belive that NCsoft Asia, North America and EU companies are all very seperately managed companies owned by one parent company - NCsoft.  Even when we run trial offers for CoX or TR we can only offer the North America members keys and due to restrictions within the company we have to refer our EU members to other EU fan sites for the trials and such.  I think that each division of NCsoft is actually forbidden from "stepping" into another's turf so to speak.  While we could try to get a contest with a EU division of NCsoft, it is my understanding that NCsoft N.A cannot run promotions outside of the US/Canada regions.

why just not make a note on the frontpage pictures (for all the giveaways and such) if it is only available in a certain territory?
saves people from clicking on it expecting to be able to enter, only to find out that they can't. Also saves them from having to vent their anger ...

So NCsoft are to blame for the racist restriction that is 'shipping constraints'. I'm sure sending something that weighs less than 2 kg will turn their entire budget around. Those bastards >_<

Get real people, the days of free shipping for anyone are long gone.  With the skyrocketing price of energy costs all transportation companies are taking it in the ear and raising prices accordingly.

We just shipped some marketing materials to Germany this week, my boss freaked at the price, over $200.

Its their marketing strategy.

If you notice, all NCSoft products is US/Canada restricted while Lineage 2 is US only. According to them, with localization, they would earn more than global market. But they are wrong.

Take NCSoft Asia for instance, did they cover most of the Asia countries? No, only Korea and Japan is covered. What about Taiwan, China, S.E.A regions? I wonder is Australia and New Zealand is in their map even.

I gave up NCSoft after i have major problems with the CoX payment despite the availability of getting the game in my country. Admin got the point that NCSoft regional company is differently managed and to add into the statement, these 3 companies ISN'T link but every action taken within it is inter-company decision and only thing they report to the HQ is financial and statistic reports. Competitions and trial giveaway is the regional company to do the decision, as long as the event is run under the Terms and Condition regualted by the HQ.

What is your problem? There's no need to personally flame someone for their opinion.

It's a valid statement. Really, shipping something outside of N.A won't break NCsoft's budget. How on Earth would them opening up the competition to all territories be a way of bending over backwards for people? They after all do rely on "those" people to stay afloat as a company..

Now I understand exactly why NCsoft N.A can't open it up, but that was just a little too aggro.
