We have made drastic changes to our rating system which should greatly help the abuse we all have been well aware of for the last 3-4 weeks.  The following steps have been taken to bring us to our new system:

1. IP checks are now in place for new users.  We only allow 1 new user per IP, per 24 hours.  Although there is the *slim* chance that 2 users from a big ISP might be behind a proxy with the same IP (like AOL uses) we don't see this as very likely.  In this rare event the user can voice a complaint and we will check the IP for a proxy.
2. A single user can now only edit/create 2 game ratings per 24 hour period.
3. Users must have at least a 5/100 rank with MMORPG.COM to rate a game.  For those that are not familiar with our ranks, please read our FAQ on this here.  As many of you know, getting a 5/100 rank is very easy and would only require a couple forum posts and/or a couple logins. 
4. All game reviews placed by users that were perfect 10s or perfect 1s were deleted if the user had logged into our site less than 3 times in the entire history of their account.  This ended up removing approximately 2500 reviews out of 9800 total.

We hope that these new rules will meet a balance of not being too restrictive while enabling us to have accurate ratings.  As always, we encourage and welcome your comments.
