Age of Conan : Win 1 of 100 Beta Accounts

MMORPG.com has teamed up with FilePlanet to bring you a contest for a chance to win 1 of 100 FilePlanet premier accounts - which in turn will get you into the Age of Conan beta test!
This is a quick draw contest and will only run from now until Monday April 28 at 9PM EST. Bonus tickets will be earned one per login day up to 4 max (see contest rules for details).

this is a good move, one that was probably brought about because of all the people complaining about subscriber-only open beta (hopefully it is, because that means FunCom is actually listening.) But whatever the reason, it's a step in the right direction in my book. Good luck to everyone!!

One question on this. Isn t it saying a chance to win fileplanet account which in turn gets you into the beta., but isn t it first come first serve basis? If so it wouldn t be guarenteed.

I do have a question though. Exactly how long in this Fileplanet beta going to last? Until release?

Wrong.. one does not "recieve", one "recEIves".
Unless you are guaranteeing everyone who wins a Fileplanet account an AoC beta key also, that statement is wrong. Winning the AoC key still requires you to be lucky enough to catch the keys before other members get them.
You seriously may want to remove that from the article and the contest info, or you may have some really upset people.

Check developer announcements in the open forums for when closed beta will end. I believe it will be May 13th.
We have been told that our winners will be told a special time that they can get the download before the hoardes slam the servers. Call it a "running start" on the 13GB download
Winners will be wise to keep this date/time secret of course as they will only ruin their own chances of downloading if they leak it to all FilePlanet premier members!

So then the winners will be given a key before the download time/date, or they will have to get their key at that time/date as well? 'Cause it's not going to exactly be fair if that time/date happens to be when they are unable to login ( by being at work, etc. ) therefore causing them to not get their key. The downloads can be started any time, the key is what's important.
Edit: And I'm not nit-picking ya, just trying to get everything clear.
Now what we need is for gamespot.com to run a contest for extra chances at winning the mmorpg.com contest etc etc....

This contest is completely seperate from the fileplanet beta. That one is between funcom and fileplanet. The 100 beta account contest is between MMORPG.com and Fileplanet, please learn to read before you make an ignorant statement. It even states that those that win the fileplanet premiere account will indeed include a beta key.
yeah i don't think being a fileplanet subscriber guarantees you a beta key. I, myself, am a founder's club member of the site and have yet to get a beta key.
I have the client installed and patched (from the pvp weekend, although I am sure they will release a couple more patches
) It was a 6.5g compressed download and required 25g to install once decompressed. (then of course you can delete those big files)
There will be a new client.
No, it says you get a premium account, which gets you into beta. However, premium accounts DO NOT guarantee you a beta key. See this?:
"From April 24, 2008 to April 28, 2008 @ 9PM EST we will be accepting entries into a random drawing where we will give away 100 FilePlanet premium accounts. Combined with the fact that FilePlanet is giving away beta accounts to their premier members this contest prize will get you into the Age of Conan beta test!"
This shows mmorpg.com apparently misinterpreting how the AoC/Fileplanet beta is being distributed and incorrectly stating that because they are giving you a premium account, and Fileplanet premium members are the ones getting keys, that you will get a key with the won account.
So next time you feel like calling someones' statement "ignorant", make sure yours isn't first.

While it could be true that you might be at work or away during the alotted time. We have been told that we will be able to give you a date/time to get the key and download before a major batch is released to the rest of the FilePlanet subscribers.
Things are really hot right now and FilePlanet has things "throttled back" to somthing like 2,000 keys 2 times per day or something like that last I heard...however, as time goes on they will already have issued all the keys FunCom has allotted them and the keys we give you will be from their main batch. I don't think it will be as tough to get the client from them in 5-10 days - even if you miss the window of opportunity they claim to have for our winners.
We also should be getting some keys down the road that will not be part of this FilePlanet promo. I don't want to release any more details until a) I know exactly how many keys we are getting b) if/when I am allowed to release details and c) how and where people will be downloading the client - because we are in no way able to host 13GB downloads...the cost of such a thing would be staggerring based on what we pay for bandwidth here.
We have been told that the downloads can't really be started at any time, when you get the key from FilePlanet (not us) they will cookie your browser (so you might want to shut off any "security" apps that delete or block cookies), you cannot download the client without the cookie. At least this is what we were told...
No it would not, it would be lame to get an FP subscription just for an change to get into the beta ;)
This whole AoC beta thing is getting pretty tired. Sign up here, pay there, refresh this page a gazillion times only on even minutes during the new moon, download 10 gigs.... No more hoops for me, just gonna wait til retail. How far off is it now? A month?

A 13 gb download... OMG I need a better ISP/modem.
Not sure on the whole "special" time to download, I got my key on day 1 and was able to download it at that time.
