Splitscreen Studios has announced the release of its "fully featured 3D MMO" for Facebook called Pirate Galaxy. The game is played via Facebook in browser with an optional cash shop. Pirate Galaxy currently supports five languages and is in beta on Facebook.
In PIRATE GALAXY, you take the role of a daring space pilot as you set out to fight alien transport ships and loot the cargo they are carrying. Team up with your friends to solve challenging missions and unravel a fascinating story. Explore the galaxy, enhance your starship with stolen technology, and become the most feared space pirate of all time!
The game features astounding 3D graphics and special effects. It is set in a vast game universe with countless star systems and planets. Starships are fully customizable and offer many upgrade options. The game also stands out for its challenging mission designs that go far beyond other games of this genre.
Read more at the Pirate Galaxy site or try it out on Facebook.

Been playing it with the standalone client because I like the larger resolution. Enjioying it but I haven't experienced much outside of combat. Hoping that there is some form of crafting or gathering further in.
Before eveyone comes in and complains about facebook gaming, I think its great for the industry cause of the extreme casualness of playing games on facebook and the amount of exposure it will get. This could only lead to more people wanting the real thing, creating a larger market for the games we love.
WEll I might try it. I had so many facebook games install nastly little cookies and trojan bck doors into my system that I really dont trust anything they do.
It actually runs well on facebook, I would just DL the client though. Kinda small and hard to see in Facebook.
And then it dosnt work on a Mac. lol..
Looks nice, but I think not for me.
Is this a good game? Does it fall into the same traps as other facebook games? What I mean is, some seemed pretty good going in, then you realize, you need more stuff that requires you pay real money to play. Im not against developers making money per se but, after awhile it becomes silly to have to stop playing or pay for more horseshoes, or stars or whatever the in game currency is.
Don't try this at home... crashed my entire damn computer! >.<
we can team up with our friends to solve challenging missions and unravel a fascinating story. It seems good, i'll have a try.
This isn't a new game, just the Facebook client is new.
the race to the social network sites has begun!
Blah blah blah in browser with an optional cash shop.
This is where I stopped reading...
I tried it on Facebook and thought it was worth looking into a little more, so I downloaded the client.
Agreed - it does turn me off when they use that as a selling point. Thus - the drought continues.
There is no such thing as an optional cash shop in these games. Expect to spend money on it if you play, the cash shop offers things you need to play.
"Full Featured" and "Facebook Game" are contadictions in terms.
After looking over the official website for PG, here is what I've deduced from reading through the site's wiki and perusing the forums:
This a real MMO, or only a Instanced 3d chat room?
No, considering most developers ( or at least their market research flunkies ) are idiots now, this will likely lead to MORE Crapbook games, creating a larger market for more of the games we hate.
Hey I played this. I like the 3d aspect. Anybody know any 3d Facebook Fantasy themed MMO?
The Cash shop IS optional! there is nothing in the shop that is essential to play! I always test stuff before i comment unlike most of the idiots commenting here!
