MMORPG.com has been given 1,000 beta keys to give to our community! These keys are first come, first served so get them while you can - because they will go very fast!
The next beta event will be this weekend followed by another next weekend!
Beta tested it week ago. Played 15 min before I uninstalled it. If you liked city of heroes / villians then you will love it. If you just thought meh not bad city of heroes / villians then you will not love this :) ( or even like this )
Well, the gaming world does not revolve around the US. For gamers in the EU, Asia and even NZ/Aus the event started at a totally reasonable time ...
There will be other opportunities to get your hands on a key. I myself have def. lost out on some similar events because they were in the middle of the night (gmt). That's just how it goes.
(at this time no beta ) came on here look up some info on CoH forum, left that forum and seen Aion contest and joined it, waited about 30mins looked up CO seen post about beta keys starting today no link at this time nothing started at this time, so I signed out for a min and back, seen the new beta for CO went to click and (NOT A DAMN KEY LEFT HOW THE HELL IS THAT POSSIBLE?) anyway I just chilled out and thought about the people at there PC clicking refresh button to get key while asleep and I laugh out loud (LMAO)

Anyway, looking forward to see if CO is any good
I didn't say that it should revolve around the US. But for a US Game, coming form a US developer, you'd think they would of spread to keys out a little. I know the same goes for games that are featured in other countries. Not saying they should of held out for US, But like the above posted stated, maybe even spread them out a little so all the corners of the world could of had a chance.
Besides it's no big deal, Betas lately have been a dime a dozen, with many disappointments.
I know some of you are anxious.. but it may make you happier you wait until OB, especailly if you are planning on buying the game... first impressions are make all the difference..

Two reasons.
1) MMO'ers have become cynical. Hype hype hype hype, release, disappoint - that's the standard mmo cycle. Beta comps like this are too good to pass on. I imagine even folk not even remotely interested in CO entered the comp just on the off chance they might enjoy the game.
2) Then there's the curiosity factor. This is the mmo trying to release with both a subscription and microtransactions. It's like a two-headed donkey in a zoo - everyone would want to get a look at that.

Not necessarily:
I've been testing this game before even closed beta, and even though my first impression was mixed to bad, I am actually really enjoying the game now.
(It's like a two-headed donkey in a zoo) lmao I am sorry!.....we say the most funniest shit on the forums..
seen 2 keys left and as he started to click they vanish (Ooohw...(( 0 keys. i'm crying... T_T) wow....if he had a G5 mouse he could have macro the click as beta.
1000 keys, awesome. Wait, nope. (yeah dude you got click but no treat)
I'd rather seen a drawing. Doing it this way is great for those up at 3 AM, but at least for me, it doesn't do a lot to generate good feelings for the game.

LOL, this has nothing to do with the game. The Keys are released to the site. How they are distributed is up to the site not Cryptic.
Of course it does. How many keys, who they are given too, when, and all that reflects to some degree back to Champions. I'm not saying its a huge deal, only that for someone on the fence it can add another little negitive.
Ten Ton Hammer also gave away keys last night. I think it was rather late as well (east coast time). There was a thread on here alerting people to it. That's how I got my key.

I've noticed a recurring theme when closed betas start opening up a bit more... not everyone understands the difference between a closed beta and an open... I think right now a lot of testers are getting the wrong idea... I still have some mixed feelings myself.. but I'm not logging in to "play" the game to see if I like it or not, I'm testing to test.
Maybe this innocent passerby, making his way so inconspicuously through the cyber-hallways of this thread, could stumble upon a kindly person who so happens to be in possession of...Oh what is this? An uneeded key! Look, it dangles so unloved from its virtual keychain, rusty with lack of use. It could be parted with so easily, with no remorse, no doubts! Will luck find this man? This poor, keyless man?
Anyone got a key or something thati can use to play this game..
Just founded it and got really intrested...

Wow, thanks mmorpg.com !
Can't believe i stumbled upon this lucky find at 1.30 in the morning just before I went to sleep!

Just got a key!
So, question: This is more of preview and less of a BETA?
Is there a separate, real BETA running side by side?
Thanks for the keys! It will give my friends who arent pre-ordering (at the moment) a small glimpse in the world of Champions Online.
not so interest super heroes but i will test beta to see if there is great loot and gameplay/ability/skills.
To save the trolls some time in posting 'BILL ROPER IS THE DEVIL AND LIKE HGL HE WILL CONN YOUZ!'
Ta for the key, I personasally can't wait to spend the whole of the beta disiding on my character design :)
7pm Aus time...perfect time to toss us Beta keys. Thanks MMORPG.com

Anyone got an extra key? Really would like to try this one.
I'm really surprised how fast this went, posted at 3am? gone before 6 am? How would anyone on the east coast even have a chance?
Ya would have been fairer to split the keys up into bundles of say 250 at a time and release them at different intervals through a 24 hour period

Might be a good sign that I didn't see this till after the keys were gone.
The last two closed BETA's I got in were -- Gods and Heroes -- and SGW.
We know what happened to those :)

In comparison the Huxley beta was US only... sooooo....
(not that I would care about Huxley compared to Ch. Online).

Oh well, thanks for getting my hopes up.
lmao this hilarious, I thought the same on 5sec of beta key release.

LOL why they still have link up?

If you really want a key just get a fileplanet acount then get the key from there.
Ya would have been fairer to split the keys up into bundles of say 250 at a time and release them at different intervals through a 24 hour period
bump. I did not get a email til 4am, >.0
Pretty sure you need to be a paid subscriber to get a key from fileplanet.
I missed it T_T this just made my day even more depressing
Ten Ton Hammer also gave away keys last night. I think it was rather late as well (east coast time). There was a thread on here alerting people to it. That's how I got my key.
Wow, really?! 3 am you decide to give out keys?
Yay...kinda made up for the fact most giveouts recently has been NA only
3:00 AM for you is 11:00PM for him. He works late.
Slim check your PM's
