The EVE Online team has taken the lid off the brand new web site and boy does it look spiffy! The site is set up to make it easier for players to land in the places they seek and to find the information they need to make their EVE Online game time all the better.
Be sure to swing by the EVE Online site and see what you think of the new digs.
After the excitement of the Winter and Christmas wars in the north, it appears, at least to us, that the battling corporations are engaged now in mop up activities. See what else is happening in our latest EVE Online column, One Jump Home.
The 'War' in the North has ground down to a series of small bush-fires being repeatedly set by a horde of enemies who, while once presented a wall of angry Vikings, have now died down to a group of irritating and annoying Vikings. Not particularly interested in making a real push for the spoils of war held behind the POS shields, but rather just making sure that you don't enjoy your lunch or rest easy - effectively being satisfied by the fact you know that they're always there. Acting like a persistent housefly that won't go away probably wasn't RaidenDOT's intention when they made their 'Great push' back into Branch, but this is ultimately the effect they have achieved.

A new blog post has cropped up on the EVE Online blog announcing that every corporation will be able to create its own forum on the official site. The reason for this, according to the team, is to create a "community enhancing tool which boosts communication and corp cohesion without all the hassle of starting their own external forum."

A new EVE Online blog post has popped up on the official site that lays out the details for the community events the team has planned for this year's FanFest.

A new blog post packed with screenshots and more has cropped up on the EVE Online site. The official site will be undergoing some major changes in the near future that should bring it kicking and screaming into the second decade of the 21st century!
Sometimes we have to eat our words. In today's One Jump Home column, we do precisely that. Find out why we're getting out the cutlery and condiments and then weigh in with your own thoughts in the comments.
Today I intend to take a bite, but not a big one - as I haven't got that much to eat. Two weeks ago I reported that even though the CFC had changed direction, the march continued onwards regardless. Today that march moves to a slow walk as the CFC looks at its own plate and reconsiders dessert.

The War in the North is still raging strong in EVE Online, but that doesn't mean much is really happening. Find out the state of affairs in this week's One Jump Home."
And so it does. Two weeks ago I reported on the initial call to arms that the Clusterf*ck Coalition had raised and the general order that the invasion of the regions known as Branch and Vale of the Silent would commence. Two weeks later, and my predictive musings have come true and the dead lay in their droves on the battlefield of Branch. Almost all of them belonging to WhiteNoiseDOT, former owners of the aforementioned region, victims of extreme unrelenting violence and conquest.

Well, that's not literally true. However during the EVE Fanfest to be held later this year, every subscriber's name as of December 31st will be printed and included in a special EVE pod to be attached to a high altitude balloon and sent into orbit.
Powered by the laws of physics and mysterious Terran technology, the spacefaring vessel will travel to altitudes exceeding 100,000 feet and into the realm of near space. A camera will record the voyage of all EVE capsuleers, united in one fleet for the first time, as they crest the curve of the planet. The vistas should be a familiar sight for those who fly around in the EVE Universe on a regular basis.
We'll keep you posted as more details emerge.

War has broken out in EVE Online, and this week's One Jump Home recounts the events that led to its arrival and the possibilities of what such an upheaval may lead to. Read on!
Earlier in the year I, and many other news media outlets, reported that the former Northern Coalition, mainstay power-bloc in EVE Online had collapsed outright under the immense pressure of the powerful Alliances known as WhiteNoise, NorthernCoalitionDOT and RaidenDOT. These 3 entities backed with the seemingly endless ISK of the Drone Russian Federation and helped by the formidable itinerant entity known as Pandemic Legion had successfully vanquished the now dead Northern Coalition and happily took their prize: The vast technetium wealth of the North.

EVE Online's senior producer, Arnar "CCP Zulu" Gylfason has officially relinquished the reins after eighteen tumultuous months at the forefront of development for EVE. Jon "CCP Unifex" Lander will be taking over the helm . Gylfason has penned a short farewell and Lander posted an introduction and vision for the future of EVE Online.
The task ahead of us in 2012 is not to be taken lightly. We are changing EVE’s internal project structure to bring it in line with a product that has nearly 200 people working on it and making sure that everyone is concentrating on delivering a game which has real value for our players. As well as changing the project organization, we will also be spending time on improving our internal tools, pipelines and processes to improve our efficiency and effectiveness for the future.

EVE Online is a very complex place to call one's home. In our latest One Jump Home column, we explore the depths of the Drone Regions, the heart of the Russian empire in EVE: UAxDeath, and how one man turned the space into an industrial behemoth.
When CCP added the Drone Regions to EVE Online, the scuttle to acquire them can be said to have taken its time. With hundreds of systems full of mediocre moon minerals and NPCs that did not reward the player with flat ISK, but rather a large handful of mineral compounds - The community was perplexed at best. How were players supposed to survive in these regions? Who would fight to defend them? Who would care? Few bothered to answer that question, but one Russian man saw what the purpose of the space truly was: Industrialist nullsec heaven. That man is arguably one of the most famous men in EVE, that man is arguably one of the best Russian politicians in EVE. That man is UAxDeath.

CCP Games has released the official trailer for the 2011 EVE Online winter expansion. Called "Crucible", the content expansion launched on November 30th with new ships and lots of behind the scenes fixes and features as well. Check it out!
EVE Online players have a lot to look forward to with today's release of the winter expansion, Crucible. Crucible brings a lot of upgrades and several new features into the game. CCP Soundwave has penned a new blog post talking about what the team has accomplished with Crucible and what the next year will bring to EVE Online.
The good news is that the 18 months are over and it feels pretty good. We had about 4-6 weeks of actual development time to put this release together and I honestly feel that this is the best release we’ve done in years. The recipe contains a few teaspoons of really good looking people, an ounce of love for EVE and is topped off with good ideas from the community.

In our latest One Jump Home column, we delve into the depths of the rumor mill, the supposed death of Alliances, the forging of new empires and all of the other things that pique the collective attention of EVE Online players. Read on and then leave us a few thoughts in the comments.
Recently the rumour mill went into full swing with regards to the apparent oncoming death of Morsus Mihi. I can't say I have any vested interest in whichever way this pendulum of fate swings. On one hand Morsus Mihi are historical figures in EVE Online. They kept the north in good stead for many years and were always reliable and stable. However as their lives in the North came to an end and the technetium wells dried up they found themselves in a strange position, an unfamiliar position, and a downright alien position. Ancient as they were, they hadn't felt the pain of eviction in many years and the events that followed left many of the remaining power blocks feeling the same sort of sympathy you'd feel for an old man who has truly lost his mind, yet in his youth was a sharp, well-kept gent.

EVE Online fan 'Flamewave' has created a terrific cinematic look at the four new battlecruisers coming with the Crucible expansion set to deploy November 29th. The ships are the Oracle, the Talos, the Tornado, and the Naga. The video also gives a great look at new trails, nebulae and more. Check it out and enjoy the awesome music that accompanies it.
EVE Online developers created an impromptu live event on November 23rd in which they banded together to 'attract notice' and to pick a fight. And fight they did...to their deaths, it turns out.
The blog post details the day's slaughter with ships destroyed and much, much more. But there is also this:
Additional props to Beastoria for landing the final blow on four CCP ships, with Fattymcbutterpants (a name which had the CCP fleet unified in laughter when called out as primary on EVE voice) and another character who should probably be renamed, both achieving three final blows each. We’re also happy to report that whilst NPCs did indeed manage to destroy 13 ships in Tama yesterday, no CCP ships were lost to NPCs. And that's despite CCP Sreeg’s Nanobot Accelerator rigged buffer tank.
From the report, it sounds as if the team and the community had a ball. Check out the full post on the EVE Online site.
The fifteenth expansion to EVE Online is being called "Crucible" and will go live on November 29th. Developers are describing Crucible as "EVE Reforged".
Some of the major improvements players are lauding:
- Four fan-designed battlecruisers built to deliver swift and effective destruction to the opposition
- Over a dozen stunningly remade nebulae, changing the look and feel of EVE's universe completely
- Other fan-favorite graphical improvements such as engine trails, warp tunnels and shadows
- Time dilation in fleet flights -- adjusting time itself to keep fairness alive when hundreds of players face off against each other
- 3 new factional captain's quarters with unique, artistic looks
- A significant ship rebalancing effort, to bring greater diversity and balance to large and small scale conflicts
- A lot of small changes -- from fonts to UI to Doomsday devices to PvE tweaks
