Posted Oct 09, 2015 by Suzie Ford

I’m usually late to the party with most games, and Shadowrun Returns hasn’t bucked that trend.  I’ve just completed the initial campaign for Harebrained Schemes’ isometric single-player RPG, and enjoyed several aspects of it that are great models for most roleplaying games moving forward.  Here are three that stand out most prominently!

Divinity: Original Sin : Enhanced Edition Console Version Coming October 27th

Posted Oct 09, 2015 by Suzie Ford

XBox One and PlayStation 4 fans of Divinity: Original Sin will be pleased to hear the news that Larian Studios will be releasing the Enhanced Edition on Tuesday, October 27th. Folks preordering the console edition will get some new cosmetic items including a new weapon and more.

Grumio himself writes to you to explain just how these bags came to be in the world of Rivellon:

"To Whom It May Concern (preferably an imp),

I, Grumio, son of Gromio, have made new strides in the fields of fashion, engineering and Things-That-Go-BOOM! Colours are hidden in my jars, but they do more than dye: they DESTRUCT when used for purposes more entertaining than vogue and vagary! Just combine them with empty grenades and you'll soon see for yourself... The design of wands too -them nifty wizards' tools- I have improved to great and unique effects. Little do those one-trick-pony magicians know how an impalytical mind like mine outshines them O so brightly! A specially crafted sprocket is all one needs to add powerful attributes to inert wands. What fun, what jolly mischief the results! So rejoice, dear reader, for you have learned some of the secrets of Grumio! "

In short, this list isn't just about what we think is "The Best", but also about what we think has had the most significant impact on culture and gaming as a whole.

With that in mind, here comes Numbers 15 through 6 of the Greatest MMOs of All Time.

Posted Oct 09, 2015 by Suzie Ford

The latest Orcs Must Die! Unchained update has been deployed that brings a new character into the roster: Zoey, the "charmingly chaotic" mage. Zoey has a proclivity to miscasting her spells due to being rather new to the whole magic thing which can lead to some interesting randomly set abilities at the beginning of any battle.

In addition to Zoey, players can take advantage of improved communication and the ability to post stat screens as well as Endless Boss Hero Roulette. As expected, tons of bugs have been fixed too.

ARK: Survival Evolved : Two Million Dinomancers Can't Be Wrong

Posted Oct 08, 2015 by Suzie Ford

It isn't easy to stay alive in ARK: Survival Evolved, but up to two million folks are giving it their best shot. Studio WildCard announced earlier today that over two million game units have been sold.

Since its wildly popular launch in June 2015, ARK: Survival Evolved has exploded dramatically and rapidly in real estate, reach, and units sold.

  • Every week, at least one new dinosaur is added to expand the exotic fauna in the game.
  • Two weeks ago, ARK expanded significantly by adding two new biomes, snow and swamp, greatly increasing the scope and type of real estate and adding complexity to the environment and AI behavior.
  • And most significantly Studio Wildcard over the last two months has built out a massive competitive aspect to the game and is in the third phase of its Survival of the Fittest competition, “The Last Stand,” featuring more than 230 players and $60,000 in prizes, throwing the survival-adventure title into the competitive e-sports field with a whole new twist.

Guild Wars 2 : Securing Glint's Dream - The Exalted Profiled

Posted Oct 08, 2015 by Suzie Ford

The Exalted are a new faction in the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns expansion that have one eternal charge - to secure Glint's dream of securing a peaceful future. The Exalted were once mortal who, on completion of training, sacrificed their outer shells to become creatures of pure energy, all encased in glittering armor.

Players will meet The Exalted in the Forgotten City and players will find that they are formidable allies with more prowess in magic than before and all alongside the retention of their memories and names. They are dedicated to Glint's message of hope and peace.

To understand the Exalted, you must first understand the dragon Glint. Glint was created by the Elder Dragon Kralkatorrik to be its champion, but her connection to the mortal races of Tyria led her to break with her master and protect as many sentient races as she could from the Elder Dragons’ predation. These selfless acts cost Glint her life when Kralkatorrik rose in the modern era, but before Glint died, she took steps to help ensure the sentient races of Tyria would survive the rise of Kralkatorrik and the other Elder Dragons. With the gift of prophecy and the Forgotten as her stalwart attendants, Glint prepared a legacy that would continue her great work even after she herself had died.

Under Glint’s instructions, roughly 300 years ago the Forgotten sought out human volunteers who shared their reverence for Glint’s dream of securing a peaceful future. After a rigorous set of tests and trials, the most worthy of these volunteers underwent a ritual that converted their bodies into pure magical energy which were then encased in golden metal armor. From this point forward, they were known as the Exalted.
