Blizzard is sporting an interesting splash page that invites new World of Warcraft players to take on the game for free from now through September 26th, likely right before the release of the v6.0 patch that will lead to the Warlords of Draenor expansion. How this differs from the endless free 1-20 game play remains to be seen. We'll keep you posted.

Joystiq is reporting that it has received word from Zenimax's Pete Hines that the studio behind Elder Scrolls Online is reducing its work force. Hines cites it as part of the normal development cycle as the game ages and becomes more stable and runs more smoothly. Zenimax will maintain a large workforce to continue to add more content to ESO.

Well the end of summer is here. For most of us that means back to school in some form or work in another. This year at PAX Prime we saw a host of AAA titles and Indie Games that will shape the landscape entering into the final half of the year and the first few months of 2015. With a major presence by top publishers we are still in awe of the powerful independent game movement that is sweeping the industry.

Carbine Studios has announced that megaservers will be coming soon to WildStar. According to the forum post, there will be one PvE and one PvP megaserver per Data Center. Utilizing megaserver technology will consolidate the player base and increase raid / quest grouping density.

Risen 3: Titan Lords is the latest role-playing game from German developer Piranha Bytes. The game sells itself on player freedom and a steeper learning curve than most modern games. The developer is offering a product that will not hold player's hands as they explore the tropical island setting and make inroads with the various factions and characters they encounter.
