We already know that Blizzard has no plans to make any significant (or any at all) announcements at this year's Blizzcon with regard to the Diablo franchise. However, a new posting on the site for a Production Director has caught our eye. The job looks for a candidate "to bring the Diablo franchise into the future". While the usual requirements for the job are fairly standard, the "Pluses" section is what has caught our eye.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic site has been updated with a long post laying out the development roadmap for the balance of 2017. Included is the first information about big changes coming to multiplayer starting with the deployment of the United Forces Campaign in November. Some components of United Forces, mostly of the quality of life ilk, will be coming in October including an extended maintenance period on October 24th and the full campaign coming on November 8th.

Next week, we will put a score and summary on Path of Fire, the new Guild Wars 2 expansion. But this week, we're still working through the deluge of new content and massive new zones. While many players have scooted through the story and started unlocking their Griffon mounts, we're taking our time, seeing the sights, and getting lost in jumping puzzles and random encounters. In short, it's like a return to form for Tyria. The game I fell in love with back in 2012 feels like it's returned.

In a new interview at GamesIndustry.biz, Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida has revealed some interesting tidbits about the game's player base and its overall health. While no firm current subscription numbers are stated, Yoshida does say that "our active subscribers is the largest it's ever been". Additionally, the launch of Stormblood saw FFXIV cruise over the 10M player mark, only 2M shy of World of Warcraft at its highest ebb, though this number also includes free trial players.
