Guild Wars 2: Edge of the Mists Revealed
Beginning October 18th, World vs. World (WvW) will move into its "Season" structure stretching to December 5th for the first such competitive time period. But that's not the only big change coming to WvW in the next few weeks... a brand new Overflow Map specifically for WvW is also coming to the game, and ArenaNet will be using this map to test a ton of ideas for the three-faction warfare.

When players enter any area that's overpopulated, they're thrown into an "overflow" copy of that area so they can keep playing instead of waiting in queues forever. This applies to every part of the open world in Tyria, except WvW. That'll all change when Edge of the Mists is added to the game in coming weeks. Serving as WvW's own private overflow map, it'll have all the trappings of WvW combat... but it won't just be another copy of the same Eternal Battlegrounds and Borderlands maps. It won't effect the overall WvW scores either, but players will still gain XP and progress towards rewards while in the Edge.

WildStar: Trying Out the Stalker Class
At last weekend's New York Comic Con, the WildStar team was on hand to show off the game. We managed some hands on time with the Stalker and present our hands on preview.

I chose the Draken race for my stalker, mainly because they look cool and use their enhanced melee claws in attacks. I felt like a demonic, futuristic Wolverine. I did not waste time on character customization because I wanted to get right into the gameplay, but the options seemed typical for most MMOs: different hair, colors of skin, etc. Nothing earth-shattering about the customization available so far. To get to playing, I just hit randomize and entered the world. I also chose the Explorer as my Path. The Paths are one of my favorite features about the game and work alongside, but separate from the class system. More on the Explorer later.

Game of the Week
Neverwinter is an upcoming free-to-play MMO from the combined team of Cryptic Studios, Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro, and Perfect World. It will put players into the heart of Neverwinter, one of the most infamous cities in Dungeons & Dragons lore.

Set 100 years after the Spellplague, and after the volcanic eruption that destroyed the city, Neverwinter is slowly restoring its former glory. But in the deep, dark places in and under the city, evil forces are seeking ways to keep Neverwinter from that goal, by any and all means possible. Players will need to once again answer the call for heroes to help save the city!
