Dungeons and Drgons Online: MMORPG's Exclusive Review

This week, we take a look at a recent review of Turbine’s adaptation of a Pen and Paper classic, Dungeons and Dragons Online: Stormreach. Our own Garrett Fuller took a look at this game, and gives it an overall score of 7.3 while you, our readers, have placed this game slightly higher with a 7.4. The game scored highest in the Graphics category, with their lowest score comes in value.

Here are some memorable quotes from the review:

  • Turbine has done a good job in creating the feeling of a small group of players fighting it out in a dungeon.
  • There is a very cool puzzle room that lights up the floor and opens another door for your party to continue on. The feel of the game is fun.
  • At this point after one month of playing my character is fourth level, almost fifth. I have seen players that have already reached level ten (end game).
  • The game has gone for a realistic look. The armor and weapons seem to be taken right out of the pages of the Player’s Handbook.
  • [Value:] This is where Turbine has really sold its players short. Charging a monthly fee for this game just seems to be unfair.

This week, Game/On presents the first commentary episode featuring regular co-host, Jon Wood and new co-host, Garrett Fuller. This time around, the pair discuss statistics on role-playing in MMORPGs, a new reality series being based around the building of a new MMORPG, and the ever-present issue of cheaters and bannings in games.

Also new this week is the addition of Cabal Online to our Games list. This new MMORPG is billing itself as being:

  • Story Based Cinematic Scenarios and Intricate Plot
  • Fun & Easy

There’s a new debate up this week as Jon Wood and Carolyn Koh take on the issue of quests, and their place in MMORPGs as we know them. Jon takes the position that quests have become an issue for MMO gamers, while Carolyn takes the opposite view, coming out in the defense of these MMO mainstays.
