Greetings and Salutations,

This week, I wanted to sit down and let you guys know about some of the exciting things that are happening with our site. Not just because as the Community Manager, that’s my job, but also because I’m personally excited about it and just want to share!

First off the block is the fact that we recently moved to a four server system for the site. Previously, the site’s poor single server was moving slowly, trying to handle the traffic that it was receiving. Thanks to you guys, in the last year, our site has grown dramatically in terms of not only the number of people who visit, but also the amount of content that we’ve been able to provide.

Next, I want to talk a little bit about our forums. Some of you had been experiencing issues with the forum software, resulting in double posts. We’re happy to tell you that we’ve updated our forum system as well and you should find issues like that to be a thing of the past. Although, as with any new system, there are still some kinks to work out.

On top of all of this, there are one or two more surprises headed our way that I’m going to keep under my hat for the time being. It’s just more fun that way. Just keep your eyes open, I promise, you won’t be able to miss it.

MMORPG.com Offering 14 Day Trial for City of Villains

MMORPG.com has announced a partnership with NCSoft concerning their game, City of Villains. Specifically, we are bringing you the first-ever free trial offer for CoV. The trial offer, which spans 14 days, will only be available between April 10th and May 10th. We should also point out that there are no strings attached here. Will this lock you into paying for something? No. Do you need a credit card? Nope! Just the will to give this game a try.

City of Villains is known for its diverse character creation and its unique take of mob drops that passes on the need to handle an inventory. The game itself is a partner to NCSoft’s first superhero title, City of Heroes and will soon be releasing their much anticipated Issue 7 that will add a number of features to the game.

Recently, MMORPG.com had a chance to take a look at Issue 7 at the Game Developer's Conference in San Jose. The preview can be found by clicking here!

Want to take a crack at City of Villains and grab a 14 day trial? Go ahead!

Game of the Week

Game of the week

This week, our Game of the Week is EverQuest, one of the original game that help start it all, from Sony Online Entertainment. After talking to a number of fans of this game at the SOE Fan Faire, I can see that this game still has a great following and a strong community, many even having tried its so-called successor, EverQuest II and come back to their first EverQuest home.

While this game may not have the most up-to-date graphics, I’m told that there are two very good reasons to play it. The first is that it’s fun. Many of the people that I talked to enjoyed the game as an MMORPG. The second is the strong community that has built up over the years of this game’s existence.
