WAR: Talking Head Commentary on State of the Game

Managing Editor Jon Wood comments on Mark Jacobs' recent letter to the Warhammer Online community where Jacobs talks about details of the game's first major patch, two classes that will be added soon, and more.

Jon's Comments:

Good news for players who have been complaining about the cut classes as Mark announces the coming of the Black Guard and the Knight of the Blazing Sun. This is going to alleviate some of the issues that order players have had in terms of not having an Empire Tanking class balanced on the other side with the Dark Elf Black Guard.

While some might say that this won't help the perceived imbalance between the number of Order Tanks vs Destruction Tanks, I respectfully disagree. I think that many order side players have been waiting to be able to roll an Empire Tank and they will soon have their chance.

This week's game of the Week is City of Heroes. Originally developed by Cryptic Studios and published by NCsoft, this Superhero MMO has been around since 2004 and has seen 12 major content updates and a pseudo-sequel in the form of City of Villains.

Last year the game was fully acquired by NCsoft, who now keeps the game up and running and continues to produce updates, including the upcoming Issue 13.

Issue 13 was originally titled Architect because it was going to introduce the new Mission Architect System which would allow players to create their own missions and story arcs. But the content of Issue 13 soon grew too large for just one update, and the complexity of the Mission Architect System grew too great, so in September NCsoft announced that the Architect System would be postponed until Issue 14 in 2009.

The new Issue 13 is tittled Power and Responsibility because it will introduce new power sets for heroes and villains, and will a make it possible for players to get a day job for their characters.
