Trion Worlds has announced that the closed beta for long-awaited ArcheAge is set to kick off on Thursday, July 17th at 10:00 PDT / 1:00 EDT. Beta is expected to run throughout the weekend and end on Monday, July 21st at 10:00 PDT / 1:00 EDT.

The Elder Scrolls Online team has released a new video to show off some of what players can expect when Update 3 is deployed to the game. Update 3 is expected to hit live service in early August and will bring with it a host of bug fixes and systems enhancements as well as armor dyes, tabards and other ways to customize characters. Marvel Heroes launched last year in a decidedly less than superheroic state. The game shared many qualities found in the various ARPGs that have come onto the scene since Gazillion CEO David Brevik essentially created the point-and-click ARPG genre with Diablo in 1996. What really set the game apart from its peers was its unique blend of MMO and ARPG elements. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough. Gazillion Entertainment, the developer of Marvel Heroes, did a decent job blending these elements in the game's initial release last year, but it was the rest of the game that simply came out undercooked.

Fans of Hearthstone and those looking forward to more about the single player "Naxxramas" campaign, will be interested to note the price breakdown. The full Curse of Naxxramas campaign (all five wings), can be purchased for $24.99 or for $6.99 per wing (with certain discounts based on other wings already owned). ZeniMax published a post late last week saying it planned to make a series of changes to Veteran Rank content. Those changes, which began rolling out this week, were indicative of what the studio called a desire to listen to the feedback people had been giving and gauge just where the community had been on the matter of Veteran Rank content.

ArcheAge is an upcoming MMORPG in development by Korean company XLGames. Players enter a fantasy world and start play on one of two continents: Nuia (Elves), and Harihara (Ferres). From there, everything else is up to you, from what character you play, to where you go, and why. ArcheAge promises to remove the restrictions that have hampered former MMORPGs, especially concerning character classes and skills. Go where you will, do what you want, be the character you want to be.
