Hellgate: Review
In our latest review, we take a look at Hellgate Global. For those unaware, Hellgate Global originally began as Hellgate: London before developer Flagship Studios went out of business. Resurrected by T3 Entertainment and Hanbitsoft, Hellgate Global is experiencing great success.

Hellgate Global, in this writer's eyes, is a great value... at first. It runs on a Freemium model with an item mall. The item mall has both gear and items, including tickets to get you into the new zones. Without paying you cannot make it past act 2 (there are five acts plus additional content). The first two acts keep you interested thereby giving you an opportunity to explore the current content and letting you know whether or not you want to pay for the rest of the game. However, crippling players to not allow them additional content I found to be frustrating.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Launch Interview with Greg Zeschuk
Star Wars: The Old Republic launched officially at 12:00 a.m. across the globe. In New York City, the game's launch was celebrated by members of the Bioware team and not just a few Imperial Storm Troopers. We had the privilege to chat with Dr. Greg Zeschuk about SWTOR.

I asked Greg what it was like from a BioWare RPG standpoint to finally make the leap into MMOs. He said that many of the BioWare folks were huge MMO fans in the past so when they decided to make the game as an MMO it was important that they got the technical side right. They started the team with two veterans, Gordon Walton and Rich Vogel, to avoid a lot of the pitfalls in the past that MMOs had suffered from. It was very important that they did not make a mistake. They also took about a year and worked very hard on the story. They wanted to have a strong prototype of what the story was going to be as they started to ramp up development. The voice work took a long time so they made sure all of the pieces were in place for it to go smoothly. One area they focused on heavily was the group dialogue to make sure that it went well for all players. Greg explained that the multi-player conversation was something they checked many, many times before it was ready.

Game of the Week

This week's Game of the Week is Bioware's upcoming MMORPG, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and why not? After all, this Star Wars MMO (the second, historically), is one of the most talked about upcoming games not only within the MMO genre, but in all of gaming.

With Bioware's reputation as a first class developer of single player RPGs, many video gamers find themselves wondering how the company will handle the challenge presented in the realm of multiplayer games.

The opinions are coming in from all sides with players weighing in. Some would like to see the game more closely resemble the sandbox style of the original Star Wars Galaxies while others are looking forward to a near perfect continuation of Bioware's success with their previous Knights of the Old Republic title.

After several years in development, Star Wars: The Old Republic has finally gone live. Is it living up to your expectations so far? Let us know on the forums!
