Bioware Executive Producer Casey Hudson has left Bioware according to a new developer blog by Aaryn Flynn, BioWare Studio General Manager. According to the post, Hudson wrote to colleagues that, after sixteen years, he wanted to reevaluate his prospects. Hudson came under fire with the fan outrage surrounding Mass Effect 3 but was still heading up development of Mass Effect 4.

The latest Activision Blizzard financial report has been released. The report indicates that profits are up generally but that World of Warcraft has seen a precipitous, if typical, subscription drop off, now numbering 6.8M, down from 7.6M in Quarter 1. Blizzard has attributed the reduction to a typical end of expansion lifecycle. The new report also indicates that over 1.5M copies of the Warlords of Draenor expansion have been preordered and that Diablo 3 has sold over 20M copies.

My most memorable moment playing Skyrim involved Lydia, the dutiful, rarely-speaking companion bestowed upon you as a reward for one of the game's earliest quests. It was my first playthrough, and I quickly learned that my poorly thought-out destruction mage benefited immensely from her unflinching willingness to charge into the thick of battle and start swinging her sword around.

Update 3 for Elder Scrolls Online has now gone live according to a post on the official site. Among the usual bug fixes and feature enhancements, the patch includes armor dyes, guild features (tabards, ranks, stores, etc.), five brand new Alliance war campaigns, instant weapons swap and more.

The whole notion of MMO gamers being "entitled" is way overblown. There, I said it. We're at the point where we've seen a couple of major releases this year so far, and we're seeing talk all over the place --from gaming publications, to social media to forums--about whether the releases that came with subscriptions attached should or will go free to play, and how long that will take. Comments are made, the gates thrown open, and often, opinions clash while more moderate voices navigate somewhere in between. Yet, a single accusation keeps popping up, used partly as a pejorative and partly as an assumed fact of life.
