Perfect World Entertainment and Turtle Rock have announced a partnership to bring a new IP to the world that will be a cooperative online shooter with a "strong dark fantasy" theme. The partnership allows Turtle Rock to pursue its service-oriented game style, meaning getting games into players' hands quickly and then iterating future updates based on the community's experiences in the game. Leveraging the F2P model is key to Turtle Rock's philosophy.
Goldstein continued, "But with a service-based title, we can react to players' behavior instantly. If we see something that players don't like, we can modify it in the next patch. Same goes for things that users are enjoying or playstyles that we didn't anticipate. With Evolve: Stage 2, we were releasing an update every week with changes to the game that were based on our users' reactions. We expect to implement this process at the outset on our new title.
Turtle Rock's new game will be built on the Unreal Engine and is not expected to be released until sometime in 2018 if all goes as planned.
