Former Blizzard North co-founder David Brevik was interviewed recently by Diabloii.net. During the discussion, Brevik was asked how plausible a remastered Diablo 2 might be. "They'd have their work cut out for them," he mentioned alongside the information that a lot of the assets from that time period likely do not still exist. In addition, Brevik said that games were made differently back then than they are now. Changing even the slightest thing might not keep the same feel.
Most notably Brevik said, "[T]he moment that you change the fundamental way that you interact with the game and you move around the world, you’re changing the game."
It's a terrific interview, though worrisome for those who might be pining for a Diablo 2 remaster similar to the Starcraft Remaster that's coming out later this year.
