Skills & Combat Detailed in New Dev Blog

The Neos Land site has been updated with another extensive developer post, this time exploring the vision for skills and combat. The post talks about developers keeping tabs on a cadre of pre-alpha players over the past weekend as they tested out the new systems. The next targeted testing event will be held on December 17th.

Neos Land utilizes an action combat style that is directly tied to player Skills. Every action used increases the skill level for that particular ability. Crafting is also tied to skills that allow players to "summon" higher level recipes to create better items that can be sold to others. Combos are also part of Neos Land, each that allows for bonus damage or some type of special effect.

"With this robust skill system, the actual combat complements it. Players can toggle between combat mode and non-combat mode. While in combat, a player can’t use his mouse to activate any UI, as they uses the left and right mouse button to strike or block. Only damaging a target which is in their cross hairs, it makes for a fast based combat system. A player’s skill moving their character, combined with timing of abilities, will lead to victory. As this is a semi-Full loot game, players will have a very short time to recover the loot dropped from their backpack, when they die, before someone else can take it. All items a player has equipped or has insurance on in their backpack, will stay on their body when they are resurrected."
