The Asus electronics firm tweeted this photo with the caption, "The rear looks pretty nice.  So does the new transformer AIO" and has come under heavy fire for doing so.  Does anybody have a problem with this?  Because from where I'm sitting, I would have to agree.

Here's the story

I don't think any normal person gives a shit, but they should have known that high-profile tweets are features on the news these days... and they will twist things to make anything contentious.

Reporters are becoming as scum-like as lawyers are.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with what they tweeted. This is just another case of news services over reacting to sensationalize something in the name of ratings. The people getting bent out of shape over this represent probably less than .01% of the general population. The remaining 99.9% are normal sane people that either don't really care or accepted it as humor like it was intended.

I would have to ask, did the girl in the photo mind?

God forbid people act human anymore.

I don't get your angle. Are you saying "acting human" is being able to laugh at a double-entendre, or trying to identify with the inner workings of fashion model?

It means that OMG, what a shock, we generally find apeal in the oposite sex.

It means not spending our lives worried that we might offend some other group who thinks that the world should function based on the direction of their moral compass.

It means we're not perfect.

It means that we have senses of humor that vary from individual to individual.

It means that it's normal for me to notice a girls rear, I'm a guy, and as a general rule that's normal "human" behavior.

It means that when a woman takes a job were she's expected to "look pretty" to promote something it shouldn't be condemned as sexist; especially when they weren't forced to take the job.  Did you read the article?  It was more about "booth babes" and how it's sexist to hire attractive woman to promote things then it was about Asus' comment.

Believe it or not, companies do hire men to do the exact same thing.  When was the last time you saw it called sexist?

I photographed a car show once.  Not a single one of the girls who were modelling by some of the cars in bikinis complained about it.  In fact, everyone of them that I actually talked to enjoyed it.  Many of them even came to me, to have their picture taken, in their bikinis.  Most of the posses they gave me, wouldn't be suitable for any general publcation, and I never told them how to pose.

I know woman that do this for a living.  I can tell you very confidently that if they minded being noticed in that way, they wouldn't be doing it.

It wouldn't be "normal" human behavior if we didn't notice the girl in the slinky dress modelling a product.  She knows, like everyone else, that's why she's there.

What do you think a predominatly male attendance is going to notice from 50 ft away?  The tiny laptop on the table, or the hot chick standing next to it?

There's such a thing as personal behavior and professional behavior.

Personal behavior involves all the crap you do when you are off the clock and not using company technology.

Professional behavior involves all the crap you do when you're on the job or using your company's technology.

Most companies develop a series of dignity and respect policies as well as a code of business conduct that prevents this sort of foolishness.

Personally I don't see a problem with it.

Professionally I'd disipline the person and perhaps fire them over something like this.

Seriously, how much press would Asus have gotten about their new laptop without this? The ROI on this advertisement was massive.

I really think the laptop itself is an afterthought in all this coverage, at this point.

It's just relaying more negative PR (but PR all the same) to the brand-name itself.

~I an see a lot of housewives telling their men "don't buy Asus products, they are sexist"... then the men saying "when *you* build the next computer in the house, then *you* can make that call".

The world has changed since you clubbed your wife and dragged her off to your cave - there's a lot of women with not only purchasing power within their own household but corporate purchasing power too.

Or perhaps your bachlorhood is showing?

Cool, then the kind of women that would boycott Asus and pay the bills can buy a prebuilt rig, or learn to build it themselves... but it's complicated (ain't a sandwich).

Also, why would use assume I'm single? Ladies ask nice guys for favors, but date the jerks.

Don't call sandwiches simple you incompetent fool. My case and point will be the amount of research and development Subway performs.

Also most Corporate companies going for quality will usually default for Lenovo, other wise to a dime a dozen store like Dell/HP

What an odd thing to reply when I typed "bachlorhood" not "single"...  DUN DUN DUUUNNNNNN!
