Hi everyone!
my name is Vadim Zinkovski and I am a student studying BA (Hons) Tourism Management at Bournemouth University and am conducting research on the motivations of people for attending e-sports events for my final year dissertation.
I would really appreciate if you could spend 3 minutes of your time on filling in the questionnaire. (only 13 closed questions!)
The survey is 100% confidential and nobody except for me will have access to the data.
If you have any questions you can contact me at vadim.zinkovski@gmail.com.

Many thanks!
Sincerely,
Vadim Zinkovski
(I do not know if I am allowed to post this. I assume this might be considered spam or advertising, which is very unfortunate, because collecting data for this kind of research topic is quite difficult. Apologies if I broke the rules and this gets deleted!)
P.S. This is NON-commercial, I would just like to reiterate that!

I went ahead and filled it out. It's only 7 or 8 questions and it's different from the same copy and paste surveys that come through these forums every other week so I was interested enough to take a look.
I would suggest that the questions seem to take for granted that I'd actually spend money or travel to attend an E-Sports Event. There should have been an option for $0 and 0 Miles. Honestly I wouldn't mind watching some of these on TV or through my computer, but I really don't think I'd attend an actual event. Though I suppose I may not have been the target audience for that survey....
Whenever they try to market competitive gaming I believe they end up doing it wrong. I don't really enjoy the fabricated format with Coaches, Matching T-Shirts, and a Host. I can understand the importance of making the gamers play on their rigs to prevent cheating, but I feel like something is lost by putting together these teams themselves like they used to do with Boy Bands in the 60s and the 90s.
My Battlefield 1942 Desert Combat clan had players from all over the US, Irleland, and England. We had a female college professor in her 40s, a retired veteran in his 60s, kids still in Junior High and High School, and everything else in-between. Everyone had a different and unique personality that made playing with them and watching them play very enjoyable. Also, and most importantly, we spent hours every day playing and practicing together or just hanging out on Ventrilo. We really got to know each other and this came through in our Clan Matches or in Tournaments we took part in. There would be no possible way to get all of us in one place to participate in these E-Sport Leagues with work and school and clan members located all around the world and so they have to use these fabricated teams of 18-28 year old guys that just lack that feeling of true comradery.
Possibly one day the tech will be in place to be absolutely certain no cheating is taking place on home computers or consoles. Once they can achieve that, and with a better selection of competitive games (RTS games and Halo Matches are very boring to watch) I'll be onboard. I can't say I'd be willing to pay anything or go anywhere to see these matches, but if they do things right and it really blows up big I'm sure I could really get into it enough to start paying.
I'm so sorry I didn't reply to your elaborate post! I have been unable to work on my dissertation until now due to personal issues.
I hope nobody would mind me bumping this once more? I could really use some more filled in questionnaires!
Kind regards,
ImportMalina
