Daybreak Reassures the Z1 Battle Royale Community After Retaking Development

Up to last week, Z1 Battle Royale was being actively developed by NantG. After a round of layoffs from the Z1 team, Daybreak retook creative control of the game. Earlier this week, the team posted a brief note of reassurance to the Z1 Battle Royale community to let them know that servers will remain up, the name will not be changing and that they are hoping for "minimal disruption to the game's service".


Several Z1 Battle Royale Developers Laid Off, Future of the Game Remains Unknown

Adam "Arclegger" Clegg, lead designer of Z1 Battle Royale, has tweeted that he has been laid off by NantG, a move that may spell big trouble for the game formerly known as H1Z1. Clegg also penned a lengthy farewell to the community and to the development team that is a mea culpa of sorts about the rocky road the game has traveled since first revealed years ago.


H1Z1 Battle Royale for PS4 Updated with Season 3

H1Z1 Battle Royale for PlayStation 4 has been updated to bring Season 3 online that includes a new 50-player free-for-all Deathmatch mode, Ranked Leaderboards, and the new Battle Pass that includes "100 reward tiers across both free and premium lines". There are also a pair of new bundles available in the PlayStation Store.


H1Z1 Battle Royale to Expand with Deathmatch, Leaderboards, Training Grounds & More

H1Z1 Battle Royale on PlayStation 4 is going to be growing past "battle royale" when Season 3 launches. Players will be able to check out FFA Deathmatch, Ranked Leaderboards, Training Grounds and the 100-tier Battle Pass. Season 3 will be launching on February 21st and is the "largest update in the history of H1Z1 on PS4".


ESPN Is Reporting that the H1Z1 Pro League is Shutting Down

ESPN has received a copy of a letter sent out from Jace Hall to the participating teams in the H1Z1 Pro League to let them know that "the 2nd Split has been suspended indefinitely, and that a second league season will not be renewed or scheduled at this time". The notice comes just over half a year since the inaugural professional season began but also after reports that teams were not receiving promised funds.


H1Z1 Season 2 Battle Pass for PlayStation 4 Detailed

Daybreak has sent word that the H1Z1 Season 2 Battle Pass is now available in the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 4 combatants. The Premium Battle Pass includes 75 tiers for 750 Crowns. Players can also purchase a Premium Battle Pass that automatically unlocks the first 25 tiers at a reduced cost (2700 Crowns). There is also a special PlayStation Store Premium Battle Pass that includes a Skull Ops outfit for $20.


Transition Begins to Move From 'H1Z1' to 'Z1 Battle Royale'

The latest H1Z1 patch notes have been posted that inform the community that "the newly re-formed dev team" is hard at work at what "will soon be known as Z1 Battle Royale" on PC in the future and that it will be working with the community to "prioritize features and changes" that will hopefully "return the game to its roots as the world's most competitive BR game".


H1Z1 Pro League Rocked by Visa Issues, Low Attendance & Lack of Renumeration

VPESports.com (via MassivelyOP) has an interesting investigative piece about recent goings-on in the H1Z1 Pro League. At issue are problems with foreign players obtaining visas and working in the US with proper documentation; low attendance that many feel is due to event streaming taking place exclusively on Facebook; and missing payments from Daybreak due to "force majeure", or an unforeseeable circumstance, that prevents fulfillment of contract obligations.


Latest H1Z1 Developer Diary Reveals Future Plans for PS4 Version Including Arcade Mode

The latest H1Z1 developer diary has been published, this time to reveal upcoming content additions to the PlayStation 4 version of the game. Players can look forward to new content including Arcade Mode, new weapons (short, medium and long-range guns), Daily Challenges and the roll out of the leaderboard system.


PlayStation 4 Launch Date Set for August 7th

Daybreak Game Company has sent word that the PlayStation 4 launch of H1Z1 will be happening on August 7th. The launch will come complete with new features and in-game content including a pair of new weapons, a new vehicle, Battle Pass Season 1, a pair of launch bundles, optimization and performance improvements and more.


Massive Update Celebrates Over 10M PlayStation 4 Players

Daybreak Game Company has announced that H1Z1 has soared over the ten million player mark on PlayStation 4 and have spent over 100M hours taking the fight to one another. To celebrate, a huge PS4 update has launched that brings new in-game skins, the Revive mechanic, aim acceleration adjustments and the Airstrike Signal weapon lets players call in a bomb drop on their enemies.


Over 1.5M PlayStation 4 Players Download H1Z1 in Its First 24-Hours

Daybreak Game Company has sent word that H1Z1 has been a huge hit with PlayStation 4 players. Over 1.5 million players downloaded H1Z1 during the first 24-hours of open beta testing.


PlayStation 4 Battle Royale Open Beta Begins

H1Z1: Battle Royale is now out and available in open beta for all PlayStation 4 players. There is no time limit on the OBT, though the game is expected to officially launch on PS4 later in 2018.


Check Out the H1Z1 Pro League Opening Event Tonight!

For the first time ever, the H1Z1 Pro League will be taking to the airwaves in the opening weekend of the season. Players can tune in to the broadcast via Facebook starting at 7:00 pm Pacific / 10:00 pm Eastern. On hand to kick the event off are Michelle Rodriguez of Fast & Furious fame and Kristine Leahy from American Ninja Warrior.


Pro League Ticket Sales Begin For April 21st Event & Future Matches

Daybreak Game Company and Tixr have announced that ticket sales for the H1Z1 Pro League have officially commenced. Tickets for the April 21st event and for all subsequent weekly matches are available for $15 for standard admission and $65 for VIP "experiences". Matches will take place at Caesars Entertainment Studios in Las Vegas within the Twin Galaxies Sports Arena.
