Mike Zadorojny Stepping Up as Expansion Lead Designer

Mike O'Brien has penned a lengthy letter on the Guild Wars 2 site to celebrate the game's journey over the past year. He begins by highlighting the conclusion of the Living World Season 3 as well as mentioning the new take on PvP and WvW releases. He touts ArenaNet's focus on quality and ensuring that players' most memorable moments are actually in playing the game rather than reading about it.

Further down the letter, O'Brien mentions that his job duties as Game Director are going to be pulling him in different directions. As a result, Mike Zadorojny, aka "Z", will be a more visible presence due to his job as the Lead Designer on the upcoming expansion. Zadorojny has been with ArenaNet for over a decade and he will be a more present figure by posting articles and interacting with the community. It's very likely we'll get our first glimpse of him at the expansion reveal on August 1st.

O'Brien ended the letter:

And now, here we are at the start of a crazy week, shipping the season finale and leading into the announcement of the new expansion. You know our goal has been to do it all with no breaks in content delivery. It’s an ambitious goal we set for ourselves at the start of this season and at the start of expansion development. It requires us not only to essentially ship two products at the same time, but also to time them perfectly, so the story of one flows right into the setup of the next. Honestly, it’s crazy. But we have great, experienced teams working on both Live content and the second expansion, and I think we’re about to pull it off.

Check out the full letter on the Guild Wars 2 site.
