You guys should have started looking around at each other like the Brady Bunch intro.

In another nonsequetor - to Richard Garriott - I grew up in Enid and saw your Dad's space capsule daily.

Fun inverview

PVP missions like smuggling goods where other pvpers will be alerted to your mission and try to stop you. Excellent. This is the kind of pvp mission I was hopping MMORPGs would have. Kill 0/10 players missions need to die.

Friends in your shard-System to keep people you want to play with in close reach. Would that mean ignored people you will never have to see in game? Could be a powerful blacklisting tool to griefers. Maybe this could improve how the community treats it's players?

Gravarg writes: I'm a nuturer/gardener, don't let the mean griefers kill me :)  If I had my choice out of any role out of any MMO, it would be a carpenter.  I would run around fell trees, turn em into planks, and make bows/shields/houses and stuff like that all day long.  I've never been one that cared about how much dps I could do, or how much damage I could take.  I guess that's why I generally played healer or buffer, since that was more of a passive role.  I wasn't too sure about this game before this interview.  I was guessing it would be like a UO2, and it would eventually boil down to a griefing bunch of idiots that do nothing except prey on each other.  After watching this, I can see that they're working on stopping this from happening.  I especially love the idea of being able to play solo or with friends only, while having my carpentry shop open to everyone across the world (I hope there's carpentry at least hehe). Way too early to make any call on this.  It's not even enough to call an alpha.  Lots of interesting ideas.  I've always wanted my own vendor and I love the idea of off-line play that updates on-line when I can get a network, but I want to see it beyond what it is now.

Just too early.   I won't make judgements based on the boring combat I just watched or 80s graphics.  I know they are in development.  I'm also done with pre-launch buys.

I was just checking out their website.  I just can't get over people who back games before they launch (esp with all the failed games we've seen), but I reallllllly can't imagine handing somebody $250-10,000 for titles and toys for tots.  Maybe $100 and lower, but the rest is just NUTS!

I did like the level that allowed you to play in the developer chat, but I'm not coughing up that kind of cash.  WOW!

Machination writes: My first pc game was The Temple of Apshai on tape cassette, heh. I played it tirelessly after school in the early '80s when I was a wee lad using a small b & w tele and an Atari 1200XL. That first time wonder of what a pc game can be was truly a magical experience. This type of wonder is a kind of primal experience one can never forget. Hearing what Richard Garriott has to say and what direction this will go in, listening to feedback, this can redefine what new is by bringing back and improving what was lost to us. Cheers. After describing the slider for who you want to play with...

"That's Awesome," Bill says, "that's sort of the ultimate MMO really because you can really ignore people if you wanted to."

Seriously?  The ultimate MMO is one which ignores the MM?

The interview was interesting, but I remember reading his concepts for Tabula Rasa and thinking it sounded good too....

I would've liked to have seen Otherland, but that one is MIA.  I heard they folded due to some money issues.

This one better do better.  I still can't get those that put 10k into a game that isn't even a beta.  This may fold before it drops off the whiteboard.

Think positive...trying at least.  I guess we'll see...or maybe not.
